Good evening people!

Over the last week or so I have had a question out there in the blogging universe. I EvE mailed every writer from the blog pack(1) and asked them 2 very simple questions.

"1. If you could only fly one race for the rest of your EvE career which race would you chose and why?

2. What is your favorite *looking* ship in EvE? It does not have to be combat effective or usefull in any way... just asteticly pleasing. (Mine is the Gallente Shuttle for instance)"

I then posted the same 2 questions on the forums of 0utbreak, Rote Kapelle and Fla5hy Red.

So I have been getting EvE mails and been checking the forums and got a good response from everyone, over 60 replies to this little questionaire found their way into my little notepad of doom(tm) And I can now reveal the results.

I am going to talk about the results, starting with the last place and working to the first place winner. I will be adding my opinions.

Gallente came last with a disappointing 3 votes. Your either sitting at range with drones and rails doing very little to help the gang due to laughable DPS or trying to motor into close range while being annoyingly kited by other ships. There is very little versatility in Gallente and I think that this is the reason it has come last in this vote.

Caldari came in next with 5 votes and I think I know why. Who has NOT been jammed by 'that fucking Falcon' while out in gang? Anyone? Didn't think so. The people who like Caldari are generally spec'd to fly Falcons and Tengus as the be-all and end-all of EvE. And to be honest... most people have an alt or main who flies a Falcon. Hell, Hannibal is a 'Falcon alt' but I very rarely use him in such a capacity. Caldari do 2 things very well. They can fling missiles at range and they have good EWAR. Again, as with Gallente, they have very little versatility.

Next we have 2nd place Amarr with 17 votes. The Amarr have a good ship in every catagory in my oppinion and can be used in a variety of roles. Guardians are the Armor Reps of choice for all armor fleets (bar triage carriers) they have arguably the best combat recon of the 4 with the Curse and the best HAC in the Zeaolt that can be utilised in either shield nano, sniper or armor gangs. They have a solid battlecruiser in the Harbinger and all of the Amarr battleships are good in thier own way. Shield? Sniper? Armor? DPS? Recon? HAC? Bigger shit? The Amarr have all the bases covered. Beams and limited damage range are where the Amarr is let down. If an amarr fleet came up against a gang with high EM resistance... game over.

First place, obviously is Minmitar with a whopping 38 votes, the sheer vesatility and ships available to the Minmitar is outstanding. The Hurricane can be tanked to whichever version the FC asks for and can fit either AC's for in the face melting or Artilary for sheer first strike alpha. The Small ships of this race include the PVP favorite the Rifter. Nearly every pirate or PVP'er in EvE can trace his roots back to the humble Rifter.

My first kill was in a Rifter and I killed a Retriever mining in Aurohen.

The Rupture is a PVP beast and can, again be fit for 'in the face' armor brawling or kiting shield DPS. Then you come to the Vagabond, Munin, Broadsword, Stabber Fleet all of which are great ships with different fits for different roles. The Rapier, though arguably not the best recon, definetly has it's place with those long range webs holding stuff down. The Battleships of the Minmitar can again be held up as shining examples of versatility.

Am I suprised by this outcome? Hell no, I would of chosen Minmitar myself!

Honourable mention must go to Capt Red and Lt Rook of 0utbreak. For thier answers they went for 'Jovian' and 'Angel Cartel' respectively.

Jovian is an interesting idea and, with an nod to Rixx over at Eveoganda, the question came up 'would you chose to forsake all other races at 100mil SP to fly nothing but Jovian from then on?' Personally, I think it would depend on the ships and versatility that they offer. Versatility is a huge thing in EvE and I would have to think hard before making such a choice. 0utbreak was likewise split by the question. Something to come back to sometime? Maybe.

Angel Cartel ships huh? That would mean you could fly... The Dramiel, Daredevil, Fury, Cynabal and Machariel. Thats it right? Interesting as the 'cookie cutter' fits for these ships are all shield IIRC and doesn't really fit into the versatility arguement... maybe that why it only got 1 vote!

This is already a very long post so I will announce the 'best looking ship in EvE' tomorrow morning. If you wish to have your say on the best looking ship I will take comments on this post into account when announcing tomorrow.

CONFESSION: I think I may have squewed the results slightly to cause this outcome.

I am an EvE player that is dedicated to PVP. I don't do any carebear stuff (unless hauling PVP ships counts) and when I have done it in the past I have been very, very bored.

I am not in contact with any pure PVE players in EvE anymore so the questions were asked to PVP players and this showed in the results with Minmitar being arguably the 'best' all round PVP race.

Would this result change if I asked 60 pure carebear players? I think it might... What do you think?

Blog Banter 30: The Crucible?

"With the Winter expansion possibly being named 'Crucible', it certainly is a melting pot of refinements and tweaks aimed at making the EVE experience smoother and more wholesome. If the developers suddenly found themselves some spare resources and approached you for an additional feature to include before release, what single concept would you pitch them and how would you implement it?

For bonus points, the one thing lacking from this "patchwork" of iterations is a cohesive storyline to package "The Crucible" together. How could this expansion be marketed to potential new customers?"

So what single thing would I do if I had control of the EvE online development team? I would make low-sec more enticing to live in.

I believe there are some simple ways of doing this so I hope you will forgive me in doing multiple small changes instead of one big change.

The first thing I would do to make Low-sec livable is up the rewards and pay from scanning sites found there. Better rocks, better salvage, better bounties and more chance of faction/officer spawns. I would not up the bounty on belt rats, these are fine and don't take any skill to do.

I would use the system rating (0.1 - 0.4) and balance the rewards vs the sec status of the system. IE you would find better plexes in deep low-sec 0.1 systems than you would in 0.4.

I would also use a 'local counter' and based on the number of people active in a system in a 24 hour period it will cause more (or less) deadspace plexes to appear the next day. This should create more traffic in low-sec and more groups working together... and more pirates to target them.

Along the same lines I would also put some pirate missions into low-sec systems. I enjoy a little roleplaying in other games and enjoy reading the background of the pirate faction in EvE though I have never done a pirate mission. Making these more accessable would be interesting and bring more people to low-sec. I would make the pirate frigate blueprints (Dramiel, Cruor, Daredevil and Worm) the main drop of the mission arcs in low-sec while reserving the Cruiser+ blueprints for null-sec'rs.

Now to have pirate missions in Low-sec I believe you should have faction pirate stations as well. Here is my thinking on how the new pirate stations and pirate mechanics should work.

Faction Pirate stations do not agress players who are below -5.00 security status even if they have GCC or aggression. This means that criminals can engage on station without worrying about the guns.
Faction Pirate Stations will not have bounty offices but will have an Assasination Bureau where people can post rewards for the destrustion of players with a positive or negetive sec status. The reward can only be claimed if the kill happened in Low-Sec or Null-Sec.
Faction belt rats will not aggress anyone who has a +5.00 status with their faction unless shot first. They will then defend themselves as normal.
Faction plex rats in low-sec will continue to aggress as normal as they are protecting something.

These idea's are very basic. Having faction missions available, especially to low-sec dwellers means you can twist the mechanics to give yourself an edge if you get the standings with the pirates of that specific area.

I see it working well for people who wish to role-play.

So if you want to hunt for targets in Amarr low-sec you get some standings with the local Sansha pirates. You can then warp into a belt and help 'Defend' you friendly pirate from evil carebears.

This will help immersion too because as a Sansha RP'er you don't really want to kill that 'Friendly' rat in the belt do you?

My last idea is, I think, rather clever.

Have NPC targets as well as other players. Now I don't like shooting little red crosses for hours on end. I would rather shoot another player but to do that I need to find them. So what would be good? BAIT.

My Idea is to have NPC Battleships, NPC Industrials and NPC Frieghters running around in low-sec. I mean how else will the eagerly awaited new holo-reels and spirits get to that station in Resbroko without moving through space??

So you see a NPC fleet, Maybe a NPC Charon with a couple of NPC Ravens and Scorpions for support.

Anyway as a Pirate you have 3 options.

1. You call your mates in and destroy it, picking up the loot from the ships and making a quick profit.

2. You get in a cloaky and you watch. You get an alt online and let your enemy know where this convoy is and were they are heading. You get your fleet ready and follow it a couple of jumps behind. Your enemy engage the convoy and you then jump thier fleet. Epic lols then ensue. Trap sprung!

3. You don't have a fleet but you do have a stealth bomber and you wait until a fleet aggresses and start whoring when possible.

Aggressing the NPC fleet will cause GCC and aggression just as you would get if attacking another player. You will also lose security status and reputation with the convoy's parent corp/state. The Charon could be carrying anything including ships, minerals or general crap.

The convoy will behave like sleeper rats from wormholes and will include webs, scrams, neuts and remote reps. They will swap targets and work as a team. This will make for a fun engagement and should bring out more fleet fights and small gangs.

I have described a 'big' convy here but they could be as small as a one industrial with a frigate scouter.

Another thing you could do with the above is make the NPC transports vital to maintaining the war effort and bring Faction warfare into it. This Charon could be bringing in specific equipment to help the Caldari war effort against the Gallente.

The FW miltia need to make sure it gets to it's destination and have to guard it through it's journey. This could bring FW alive with rewards at the end. Player Pirates could make hit and run skirmishes on the miltia fleets and the iopposing FW gangs could try and set up a blockade that the convoy fleet must clear.

My idea's all centre on bringing more people into low-sec and then making thier stay enjoyable and profitable. Low-sec needs more and I think some of these ways... maybe all of them... would help.

The bonus point question, that depends if we are talking with my new features or not.

If we are then I would go down the pirate faction line and really big up the fact that you can effectively 'Join' a pirate faction and get help from local belt pirates and live in pirate owned stations. Push the ideology and backstories of each pirate faction and have incarna style events where the pirates sieze the stations from the previous occupier.

If we're talking the real ecpansion then I don't know. It is hard to market something that won't change the game that much. Maybe bigging up the destroyer buff and explaining (again I know)that even a young player can use theses ships to get under the guns of the new Tier 3 BC's and show a fleet of them attacking a Tier 3 gang. I'm not sure but thats the best idea I have at the moment.

A petition to CPP

This is a petition I sent to CCP just before down time.

"Hi guys,

I just recieved a courier contract and 3 Hurricanes and a Vaga are missing from it. Here is what happened leading up to this.

I bought the Hurricanes and Vagabond from Amarr VIII station on my frieghter alt, Theknownkillu. He bought about 1,3 bil of ships and mods as I am starting PVP in a new area.

I put everything I bought into a General frieght container, apart from 3 Drakes which wouldn't fit.

The total in the container came to 107k m3.

I then threw this into my Charon and took it to Osmeden. I then contracted it to my main. Mail Lite.

This is where it gets confusing...

I tried to then contract the load to Chayni but realised I already had another contract outstanding on Mail Lite so had to cancel the outstanding one to Lady Aero and recontract the load in question to my alt Hannibal Vexor who then contracted it to Chayni, who was bringing it in by jump freighter.

Mail then recontracted the cancelled contract to Lady Aero.

The courier contract was completed which means the package was not broken.

I have checked the assets of all my charcters and can't find my ships anywhere. Plus I would not of been able to open the container with either Mail or Hahnibal as both were in TXW-EI and using the asset window to create the contracts from Osmeden.

Please can I have my bloody ships back.

Yeah so... When the contract was completed and Hannibal had it in station the container I only had 67k m3 instead of 107k m3 of the 120k m3 the can can accomadat.

I haven't got out with Rote yet but I now have atleast 'some' of my ships in. I'll be making safes and scouting around in a Dramiel for a little while, just to get used to the area and stuff.

Looking forward to joining up with some Rote fleets soon.

I will keep you updated with the petition... lets see if CCP customer service works.

EDIT: What the FUCK! I have logged back in after downtime and found my ships sitting snug in Hannibal Vexor's ship bay in TXW!

Where is Mail going??

So I'm not going to be joining 0utbreak and I have asked the same friend who jumped me into D87 if he would mind awfuly jumping me back out. Luckily he's a very good friend and said no problem.

So I am waiting in the drop off system for the Jump Freighter before moving it all to a new staging area for another Jump Freighter back into Null.

Where am I going?

Well... I looked around and asked some people and checked out some forums. I wrote an app to Shadow Cartel where Helicity is currently flying and nearly posted it before realising that I'm not bored of flying with Fla5hy Red... I'm a bit bored of Low-Sec itself.

And I think thats something to do with the mechanics of EvE online itself, namely gateguns and GGC.

These 2 mechanics make blobbing in lowsec a better tactic. Why? Well it's to do with sharing gate gun agression. If there are say 3 or 4 of you in shield/nano Battlecruisers and start engaging on gates your soon going to have problems with your tank especially if your targets point and fight back. With more people, say 20-30 all going GCC at the same time on the gate, means by the time the guns have cycled through your fleet members your tank has had time to recharge (unless your a gategun magnet). Aso in fleets of this side your normally alpha'ing stuff off the field so engagements are quicker and Gate Gun aggression isn't as much of an issue.

In Null these things disapear and the art of solo and small fast gangs can be refined. I know there are blobs out there and I know I will probably die to one in the near future. I also know that there are small fleets, soloing and fun times to be had in Null.

So I stopped looking into the low-sec side of things, after thinking about Shadow Cartel, Tuskers, Bastards and the other corps out there that I respect, and started thinking, who in Null I could see myself flying with.

0utbreak, I tried and failed, fair enough. the reasons were trivial in honesty and as someone who has been recruiting people for a while I think a little too trivial but thats cool. I will try them again someday I am sure.

I didn't want big blobs, I hate big blobs unless it's for specific targets. I classify anything of 35 or more as a big blob. That counted out alliances like Darkside. and -Razor-

So I started thinking about it and then I started looking around in game and on the forums at Rote Kapelle. What made me think of this was that one of my main commenters on the blog here is Logan Fyreite and he has a good blog and is also a member of Rote Kapelle.

I also remembered that Ripard Teg at Jester's Trek was a new member of Rote as well. I started reading up on Rote and joining some public channels until I ran into Chaos Dreams of Creative Cookie Procurement (GIRL.). I started a convo which turned into an interview which turned into an application and an EvE mail to Tsumei Meyren the CEO.

In less than 18 hours my application to [GIRL.] will be accepted and a new era both for me ingame and for this blog will start. I will be continuing to post as normal but from a new perspective. I am happy and excited about this new prospect and the pew which will ensue!

To my Fla5hy Red boys, I love you and will continue to watch you from afar. I am around in public channels and will have a JC where you are stationed. I will come back and pew now and again if you will have me. I have had a blast and will always treasure the time I spent with you, both the TGA oldies and Fla5hy Red newbies.

I'm not looking forward to moving my fleet in a Freighter again though!!! I hate Charons's... And don't worry Hattori... Noone from Fla5hy is lending it to me... Lol!

0utbreak Trial Over

Hey everyone,

So I had a great time out in Null with 0utbreak but unfortuantley it has come to nothing. I thought I would give you the final count of my time out in the Curse region.

With the 16 kills from last time I added another 8 kills on Wednesday evening and 7 kills on Thursday night bringing my total up to 31 kills in the 12 days I was out there.

I want to thank 0utbreak for having me and hope that in time I can come fly with you guys again.

I am now on the hunt for another corp that could fulfill my PVP needs. If anyone has any idea's please leave a comment or EvE Mail me in game.

Trial period in review

Evening o/

So most of you know that I have been flying with a different gang recently and have been 'on trial' with them so to speak. I still haven't had a yay or nay so I have decided to review myself since being in the Curse Region.

First off, ships killed since Sunday 23rd October 2011:

1. Thantos (Fleet)
2. Badger MKII (Solo)
3. Rifter (Solo)
4. Dramiel (Fleet)
5. Vagabond (Fleet)
6. Dramiel (Fleet)
7. Hurricane (Fleet)
8. Hurricane (Fleet)
9. Stabber (Fleet)
10. Drake (Fleet)
11. Scorpion (Fleet)
12.Kestrel (Fleet)
13. Curse (Fleet)
14. Tengu (Fleet)
15. Crusader (Solo)
16. Flycatcher (Fleet)

Thats 16 kills, 13 while in fleets and 3 solo kills. Also have 2 noobship kills and 5 capsules which I have not included.

My losses are:

1. Taranis (Solo)
2. Taranis (Solo)
3. Jaguar (Solo)

So I haven't lost anything while in fleet with 0utbreak yet, which is a good sign.

So lets look at the numbers.

I have lost two Interceptors and one Assault Frigate. This amounts to 70,267400 ISK lost for me personally over the last 10 days.

However in the last 10 days I have taken part in kills totalling a massive 3,566,748,790 ISK destroyed. No matter how you look at it, it's a good number.

I am finally enjoying Null Sec PVP. I tried the big blocs (Razor, Sniggwaffe, Defi4nt) but now have found a good small gang PVP corp that do exactly what it says on the tin and do it WELL!

I am looking forward to getting into the game later this evening and pewing some more.

A couple of kills and a bug.

Hi everyone,

So I was out yesterday evening so got my EvE time during the day. This is both good and bad.

It's good because I get to go out solo and experiment with things without having to turn down fleets and stuff.

It's bad because you don't have anyone to chat to or generally arse around with because most normal people are at work and don't get online till later in the day.

So I launched my Dramiel (of course) and headed into K-B where I know 0utbreak have a warp disruption bubble and I thought I would camp it for a little while on my own, creating a nice warp in 180km from the bubble and 200km from the gate. It was slow going and I could of probably roamed around a bit but was feeling lazy.

I caught a Reaper on the bubble and blew him to bits. I always think it's worth killing newb ships... especially in Null as you never know if they are carrying a shiney mod or something. I carried on camping and saw a Dramiel on scan. Seconds later he landed in my bubble and I went down for the fight.

We both engaged our scrams at the same time and started the slow dance of death, I think it was about 50-50 in damage... Until a Cynabal Pirate Cruiser suddenly appears and we both disengaged and started motoring away. The Cynabal took some pot shots at me from (what I thought) was 60km away.

Now this is where the BUG comes in. A couple of times over the last few days, and then again with this Cynabal the distance and speed part of the overview stops working. So the Cynabal which was showing as 60km from my Dramiel doing 5m/s on the overview was actually doing over 2km/s and was 16km from my Dramiel and had me pointed. Fuck!

I burnt away from the Cynabal in the opposite direction to the other Dramiel and managed to warp out in 16% structure. Gf's were offered in local and a bit of friendly banter ensued.

After repairing and challenging the Dramiel pilot to a 1v1 in my Jaguar, which he refused, I jump back into K-B and go back to my ninja spot. A few minutes later a Crusader Amarr Interceptor appears on scan and moments later lands in my bubble.

I warp to the Reaper wreck (which I had left there as a convienent 'warp to' point) and engage the Crusader. He first tries to run for the gate but soon realises he won't make it so engages. It is a close fight as I accidently orbit at 500m with Barage loaded but remedy that mistake and take the Crusader out.

While we have been fighting a Kestrel has warped to the gate 50km or so away and starts burning towards where I am now looting the Crusader wreck. I am in deep armor (in a shield tanker) but decide to try my luck against the Kestrel.

I orbit close with my AB on to try and minimilise incoming damage from the guys rockets. As I bleed into structure the Kessie is still at 20% shields so I disengage and tacitically retreat (read: run screaming like a girl) out of range and into warp. I have again survived, this time at 38% structure. I hang out for a bit and wait for my shields to repair themselves.

I head back to my spot to find the Kessie pilot has disapeared and a Flycatcher is in the middle of tacking down a Manticore. I think about making a run back to D87 and repairing before coming back to try and take out the Flycatcher myself, then I look in the 0utbreak channel and see Ziggy is online.

I tell him what is going on and he jumps into a Cynabal to back me up against the Interdictor who is now off the gate looking at some wrecks.

At this point I have full shields but no armor and 38% structure remaining. I wait for Ziggy and when he lands on gate I warp to the wreck the Flycather is closest to and get point and start engaging... and he starts to melt. Ziggy gets one shot off on him but otherwise it's a solo kill. I finish the engagement with 70% shields. I didn't know Flycatchers were so squidgy. I will definelty be marking those down in the 'solo'ble' column!

I hung around for a little longer but 30+ man fleets started rolling through K-B and D87 so I decided to call it a night and start getting ready to go out. All in all... A good day in my book.

Hi everyone and a very happy all hallows eve to you all.

I found this blog this morning while reading through the EvEbloggers.com site. Go have a quick read as it is a good write up of a good 1v1 fight between a Taranis and a Vengence.

Back? Good.

Now you may notice why I am linking to this Blog. The Taranis was piloted by Fla5hy's own Yuri Zirkov. I especially loved this sentence...

" If I had not been flying a maxed out, deadspace fit, syth supported ship, I would have been toast."

Using Drugs and Deadspace mods in a frigate fight. I have to give him props as, as far as I know, thats pretty rare but obviously made all the difference.

Old friends and new ships!

Hi all! Just a quick on tonight.

First off I have been flying my old friend the Dramiel again today. I'm trying to get as much use out of it as I can before the nerf in the winter expansion.

First off I took it out to a bubble camp that 0utbreak had going on in the lower part of catch. We caught this scorpion pilot but then his 30 man gang came in for revenge and popped our bubbles so we decided to tactically retreat home for a bit.

After a bit of a chill out we started roaming the local area when a scout saw a curse and Tengu coming into D87. I warped to the gate to be followed by a friendly Vaga. The Tengu uncloaked first and we both went for it, calling point and the rest of the gang in. The Curse uncloaked so I disengaged from the Tengu to motor to the Curse for point.

Now tackling a Curse in a Frig is normally a one way ticket to podsville, neuts and flights and flights of drones are bad news for frigs.

Luckily my fleet take pity on me and call the Combat recon primary over the Tengu. The Curse goes down and we switch to the Tengu and he soon pops too. Just in time actually as his gang if 3 x Tengu and logi/BC support start to arrive as we withdraw from the field.

After another long AFK from me I rejoin just as a nano gang is about to form up. I ask if they want a Dram or a Vaga and get told Dram. Then someone asks if they have a sabre pilot? I put my hand up and get a Corp Sabre handed to me.

I don't tell them that I have never flown one before... I mean how hard can it be?

The gang leaves and we notice a hound following us so we bubble up on the next gate and the hound gets popped. First kill and I ain't on the killmail!!! WTF!!

Nothing really happens on this roam. I miss a couple of ships by not bubbling up fast enough or by poor placement. We also try and drop a couples of capitals on some station gaming carriers to no avail.

All in all it was a good start to my Sabre career... IE it came back in one piece but doesn't get any good Kills.

As the fleet starts forming for what would of been my 4th op of the day, my 1 year old son decides to show he has a career as an acrobat and somersaults out of his cot with a huge bang! No more EvE for me tonight!

Gangs and Solo.

Good morning,

So last night I logged on to TS and ScoRpS decided to start putting a gang together. Fantastic, I ask what is needed and get told to jump in either a Drake or Arty 'Cane.

PODLA Drake it is. (If you don't know what this is, it's basically a double web HML Drake with 2 x Nano and 2 x BCU's)

So I hang around for a few minutes and the order comes to go to the POS and start approaching the Titan. This fleet has turned from a general roam into a suicide Titan bridge fleet. Only one problem with that... I'm a trial member and, as such, do not get access to the POS. I pipe up on TS and ask what they want me to do.

A quick discussion happens and I am given a temporary password, just so I can take part in the fleet. Awsome.

So I warp to the POS and sit in jump range of the Avatar, waiting for our scout to find something to jump us into. After a little while the scout finds a Drake, Armageddon, Huginn, Hurricane and Megathron on a station and warps over to see if they will engage.

As soon as they go red box the cyno is opened and the order to jump is called. The opposition fleet disengaged as soon as the cyno opened, all except a lone Drake pilot. The Battleships, Recon and Hurricane dock up while the Drake, still red boxed on our scout, is called primary and swiftly dispatched.

We take the fleet on a roam through Doril and back round to D87 but find absolutely nothing. On return to D87 a bio is called so I go AFK for 30 mins or so.

On return most of the fleet have gone and it's me and ScoRpS left. I jump into a Jaguar and start wandering the area around D87.

I find a Drake one jump out in a mission or plex so quickly head back to station and grab a Rapier to scan him down, only to realise that I had bought a probe launcher but NO PROBES! D'oh!

Giving up on that idea I head back out in the Jaguar and start looking for a fight.

Now I should probably fill you in on this Jaguar. It's armor tanked for a start.

This thing runs about 160 DPS overloaded with a little under 7k EHP and does about 1,200m/s also overloaded.

The idea behind this is to counter anything that comes in close. Dramiels would make for a good fight... at least a normal fit one would.

So I was out in this thing and tbh I was hunting the cocky Dramiel pilot hoping to repeat what I did a few days ago, though this time without the killmail whores!

So anyway abot 10 jumps into my circular route I finally run into a Dramiel and we start the engagement.

I close in and put the double webs on and start pouring on the damage and then... I'm capped out. What the hell? And hang on a second.... Is that Dramiel SHIELD BOOSTING?!

I get the Dramiel down to 50% structure before I go pop. I say good fight to the russian... who ignore me and head home without my Jaguar. Once home I do a little research on this guy and find his fit.

All I can say is... My Jaguar would be able to take on a normal fit Dramiel... This is not normal, but it worked for this guy and he got a good kill out of it.

The 'Thought'

So yeah while I work I was mulling over the changes being made to Destroyers, in particular their 'rock, paper, scissor' effect.

No we all know that this effect occurs in EvE online in certain circumstances. Their are some ships you know that will kick the ass or others.

I think, with the new changes, Destroyers will become the tier 3 battlecruiser killers. They have got boosted EHP, agility and speed. The rate of fire -25% restriction has been removed and they have much smaller sig radius. All this adds up to one thing in my mind...

They will be very very hard to hit with big guns, like say those on a battleship or new tier 3 battlecruiser. A frig won't hurt the new BC class as they do not have enough DPS and anything bigger than a destroyer will get ripped apart!

I personally think a group of tier 3 hunting Dessies in fleets are going to be a common sight once the new expansion comes in.

Excuse me... I'm off to stock up on Thrashers :-)

A roam and a thought.

Ok so I will start of describing my first official roam with my new flying buddies, Outbreak.

About 3pm ET Ziggy caught me and told me of a semi planned roam for 7pm ET. I asked for ship types and he just shrugged at me and went AFK. Fair enough.

So at 7 I'm on comms and ready to go. Ship types are discussed and they decide on a Tengu/Recon roam. Mail doesn't fly a Tengu so that was out and they wanted combat recons rather than force... Of which I had none. Doh!

So I asked what they wanted me to fly and they wanted some inties as fast tackle. That I could do and to be honest since reading about the upcoming Dramiel nerd I want to fly my Dramiel as much as I can.

So off we went, Tengu's, Recons, Scimi's and tackle. A couple of jumps out we found a large gang being scouted by a Dramiel. We tried to catch the Dramiel in a bubble from our Sabre but he ran back to gate and the large Drake heavy gang he was with didn't seem all that interested in fighting us anyway. We reaches our first destination to find noone there and nothing to fight. We turned around and started heading towards HE'D-GP where we were sure we would be able to find a fight.

On the inbound gate was a small camp of a Hurricane, Vagabond, Sabre and a second Hurricane/ We jumped on in and while my colleague in his stiletto caught the Sabre I went for tackle on the Vagabond that was 100kn from the gate. I caught him in quick time and then prayed while the gang finished off the Sabre before switching to the Vaga and motoring I to range. Vaga went down and I had my first tackle/kill of the night.

The hurricane was next and was caught by the stiletto and I went into put a secondary point on the guy while the fleet warped to a near by planet and back at range to finish him off.

After the fun on the gate we headed to the sstation and watched a hugging proteus for a while before setting up 2 drag bubbles 80km off the station to try and catch anything cling towards us. A Hurricane thought he would be smart and warped to an old wreck 100km off the station but before he blew the wreck up I powered up my warp drive and caught him before getting the rest of the gang in to show him he wasn't so smart after all!

We stayed around the drag bubbles for a while and caught a Stabber who foolishly warped straight to station without bouncing off a planet first. Then the local residents started undocking an Abbadon gang and 2 Thanatos carriers and we decided we should leave them to it and head home. I was promoted to scout and led the way home without casualties. That was a really fun night and I look forward to repeating it shortly.

My break is up so I need to leave my thoughts on the new destroyer bonuses till later... Maybe tonight.

My thoughts: Personally I think this thing is going to be a mini Machariel. It will be doing battleship DPS, maybe more with ROF bonuses and add to that Battlecruiser agility and speed. I aprove!

My thoughts: You have to remember this will be coming with the Hybrid upgrades as well so add a 20% tracking bonus to this and you start to think... Extra tracking, Web bonuses, Damage bonus AND Battleship DPS. Not so underpowered now huh?

Oracle (Amarr)

Slot Layout: H8, M3, L6, R3 (8 Turret points )
Battlecruiser Skill Bonus:
7.5% bonus to Large Energy Turret tracking speed
7.5% bonus to Large Energy Turret optimal range per level.

My thoughts: I was right, with the Optimal Range bonus and that many lows (6!) this thing is going to put Zealots out of business.

10% bonus to Torpedo Velocity,
5% bonus to Torpedo explosion velocity,

My thoughts: No this isn't a TYPO thats 8 of either Turrets or Missiles. As far as I could see this thing gets bonuses going either way. Also think about my comm ents above regarding the Talos, the tracking (amongst other things) on Hybrids is getting a buff anyway and this thing ALSO gets tracking bonuses and range bonuses. Damn...

Also I might as well put in what I know about the AF changes... they're all getting agility buffs of around 10% and the Enyo is getting a top speed change my 10 m/s.

I also saw the change to the Dramiel. Not good for Dram pilots like me.

The CPU will drop by 12 and the Powergrid by 1. CCP will also be changing the scan resolution from 990 to 750mm and reduce the max velocity by 13m/s. There goes my Dramiel fit.

Now another new bit to mention, and this one I quite like. A buff to Destroyers.

First of the Role Bonus of -25% rate of fire is going which meansthey will fire as fast as a frigate.

All four of the Destroyers will be recieving extra Shield Capacity, Armor HP and Capacitor. and a reduction in thier signature radius. The Comorant and Coercer will also recieve a buff to thier Agility and Max Speed.

Just been messing around with a new banner for the blog. The one I had yesterday seemed a bit... disjointed in my opinion so I tried to merge all the elements into one. I think it looks quite good. What do you think??

Malware Warning

Logistics done, let the pew begin!

So this morning I was up nice and early to get the Charon freighter those last 20 jumps to where I was meeting a friend with a Rhea. Once there I started thinking of the easiest way to get into my new staging system in 0.0.

So I looked at the different possibilities on offer to a lowsec pirate like me. Obviously lowsec was a preference but 80+ jumps through lowsec was NOT going to happen. I also discounted trying to get through one of the five most dangerous systems of EvE HED-GP.

So what I was left with was a 36 jump journey with 4 lowsec and 16 0.0 jumps (the rest being high obviously).

I decided to do this in a Taranis. This is a good travel ship as the fast align speed can get you through even 1.0 systems without damage while it is still a combat ready ship able to take down anything I may decide to engage.

So off I went and got 6 jumps from my destination when I ran into a Sabre interdictor. Now I should explain that I have solo'd a Sabre before in a Ranis while in Sniggwaffe with Hannibal. Knowing this I engaged and got totally boned. I was in structure when he was in half shields and I just couldn't lay down the hurt quick enough. I also got podded so I was back where I started. 36 jumps to go... Again.

Fitting up another Ranis I decided to try a slightly different route and again only 8 jumps from the destination I hit a little snag and I was once again back in my station.

Ok now was time to stop thinking about potential fights and just get to my new home system.

Out came the Loki and I sent my alt to grab me the interdiction nullifier. I already had a spare covert ops subsystem. With these bolted on and a couple of nanofibers in the lows to help my warp align times I set out again.

This time I didn't hit anything and made it to D87. My friend passed me over my new fleet of ships and I started fitting up a ship of each class ready to get some pew on. It came faster than I thought.

I got on TS3 and announced my presence. There was a fleet one system out engaging a stabber fleet and a Hurricane. As I listened to the engagement I started fitting up one of 2 Hurricanes I brought with me. Then over comms I hear that a Thanatos has warped to the gate. I hear people talking about engaging so jump in the newly fitted up Hurricane and start x'ing up in comms for a fleet invite. Until I get the fleet invite I am running blind so start following a friendly Tempest, hoping to God he's going where I want to go.

Two jumps out and I land on the fight with my new friends and fall straight into the PVP zone with drones out, orbit set and guns ablaze.

The Thanatos is tanking us until he starts having cap management problems... Not to mention we bring in a Capital ship of our own.

With reports of 100 man fleets coming in from all over the place we all know we have to kill this guy and get the hell out. He starts going into low armour and you can tell his cap is all but gone. As he hits structure he activates the self destruct and logs off. We take the Thanatos down before the 2 minutes are up but can't get the pod as it insta warps.

To loot the wreck we need haulers so the rest of us are on guard duty while they come in and start grabbing the loot for us.

So all in all an eventful day and a good introduction to the Corp I am on trial with. First kill a capital ship. I wasn't even in system for 30 minutes when that came up... This could be fun.

So I'm home after a shitty 12 hour shift at the residential home where I work as a carer I should now turn my computer on and get straight into EvE. I have things to do, like pilot a damn Charon 20+ jumps...

You know what? The 'misses' just came in with a bag of chips and I have some beer to drink. Getting that freighter to Berta can wait. I'll do it tomorrow.

Do I admire CCP CEO Hilmar?

You know what, I think I do.

I've just finished reading this interview at eurogamer and I like what is being said. It takes a lot of guts to stand up infront of a community like the one in EvE and admit when you are wrong. Come on we're like a slathering hoard waiting to kick the crap out of CCP for every little thing we perceive that goes wrong.

The fact that he thought about resigning and then decided that this was his mistake and he would lead EvE out of the dark summer of 2011 shows real dedication to EvE online and us as a community. Just don't fuck this up Hilmar

A new sense of belief in CCP?

So recently a whole load of stuff has come out of Iceland and CCP that shows they are finally going to listen to the player base and even admitted that they were wrong about how they were prioritising WOD and Dust514 above EvE.

I personally wasn't to bothered about CCP making other games and even more honestly I would probably have played WOD and was also thinking of getting a PS3 as I currently own a 360 and Dust isn't coming to my system. What I was bothered about was that while they were making these other games they stopped the excellent development of EvE online... At least that is how it felt.

So after the management decided to refocus on EvE a flood of new dev blogs came out basically telling most of us exactly what we wanted to hear. First thing... no more bloody door. Ship spinning was back and to be honest I missed it.

Next up we have PI changes.

As a pirate I sort of like the custom offices as they are useful warp points. However also as a pirate I don't like them as they are useful warp to points for my targets too. Do player custom offices change this? Not really but it might be something else to fight over and the more fights in EvE the better.

Next was the news of the Tornado that everyone thought was going to herald a new tier of battleship. However CCP threw us a curve ball today and told us that it will actually be a tier 3 battlecruiser. What's more it will be a battlecruiser that can use Bs sized guns and will be accompanied by 3 other new battlecruisers, one for each race. Awesome!

So the Caldari one will be a torpedo spewing uber kiting Drake like thing.

The Minnie one will have bs sized AC's and probably be the best of the bunch in my opinion. Can you imagine your general Hurricane fit but with BS sized guns? Yummy!

The Galente one will be interesting as they are planing to re-balance blasters as well. This could mean we see a faster more heavy DPS ship that might actually be able to track something smaller than a damn supercap!

And of course the Amarr new BC will immediately be turned into a cheaper version of a sniper Zealot. I just hope they think of the capacitor on that one as my Abaddon has enough problems firing all it's guns for long periods of time let alone trying to squeeze them onto a damn BC.

Last thing that caught my attention in the upcoming expansion was pod killmails. Thank you CCP for doing this. I very rarely get podded these days and when I do I generally only have a PG4 implant in my head. I can not wait to see the amount of slave and crystal sets that get podded by me and my pirate brethren. No more 'ah that was clean clone neway' in local while crying in Corp you just lost your crystals! Stand up and be proud.

I know one thing... My ISK proficiency is about to soar!

Last fo is a personal message to CCP. Your doing well. People are starting to look upon your new direction and focus and see that you are making amends for past mistakes. This is now your ball game. We as a community are showing we are ready to embrace you again and give you another chance to really bring EvE online to the forefront of MMO gaming. DO NOT FUCK IT UP THIS TIME.

Ok that's it for tonight. 12 hours of work tomorrow and then back to running logistics in my Charon... Tell you what CCP, do something about this fucking ships warp speed and all sins are forgiven!

Quick update time!

Just a quick note before bed.

I lost my Dramiel today to a Navy Hookbill. I could of taken him but also had the rats of his faction on me which did 63% of the total damage. Still a good fight though.

I send my heartfelt condolences to those being cut from CCP and do find it slightly disturbing that it seems to be the community team who worked so hard over the summer to try and reassure the EvE universe that CCP were still with us that will be let go. Goodluck guys but I know you will be fine as you guys are amazing and any company will be lucky to have you.

I will be following Jesters attempted blogging marathon as he attempts to blog up to 15 times a week. If he can keep his excellent standard up for all those posts I will crown him my new blogging master.

I will be attempting to fly with a new group of players over the next few weeks. I just need to sort out some logistics and then pew pew. Anyone got a Rhea I can borrow? Lol

I also recently noticed I have been removed from the blogpack so I have no idea who is reading this now but will continue to post about EvE and what's going On with Mail and Hannibal till the end.

I am really looking forward to the winter expansions which include pod killmails showing what the pilot had in the way of implants... AWSOME!

I guess if I was Jester I could of made each of these points into a blogpost of there own and I may return to some of these points tomorrow and expand.

Looking for small gang PVP

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping that I have finally sorted out the virus warning thing that comes up on this damn blog everytime someone tries to read it. There is no virus as far as I can see though I do admit to not being the most anal about computer security.

Anyway, last night I logged on, undocked my Dramiel and got invited to a fleet as the screen resolved. Saiyon and Amber Shouna were in local and inviting me to come pew with them.

Now to explain this, I will point you to the EvE O forums and this post here. Back? Ok good lets continue.

So Saiyon and friends had agreed for me to FC for them and give them a first hand view of low-sec PVP from and 'experienced' pilot (LOL) and we had agreed to meet up in Isho and head out from here.

As I undocked I hit scan and, ignoring the now friendly Arbitrator and Maller, I notice a Wolf on scan. Still in the 10 sec undock timer I narrow the Wolf down to the sun and engage warp.

Saiyon is, at this second, telling me to jump on mumble (which i didn't have) and supplying me with and address and port etc. Dropping out of warp I am 20km from the Wolf so start closing in while telling Saiyon and Amber to warp to me without warning of what I am doing. Understandably their reactions are a little slow and the Wolf is tearing through my shields while I am slowly messing up his Armor... to slowly... and I had to make a run for it.

As I ran my fleet mates landed and the Wolf bailed. Good fight Duke Thunderhorse of Black Rebel Rifter Gang. =)

So after Saiyon changed out his fit I started heading off to Mara to poke around a bit. I jumped in and saw a Caracal on scan and got Saiyon and his mates (now joined by Fang Tang in a Vexor) to hold in Hasama. As I was trying to narrow the Caracal down a Heron dropped combat probes and scared him out of Mara. Damn it!

Noticing Htrag of CBS in his Nighthawk and his links alone in local I called the gang in and get them to a safe spot on the Dantumi gate while I go in to try and scare up a fight.

On the gate as I jump in is a Drake, Daredevil and Rifter. I start burning off them and decide to do a little solo trick here. I watch the Daredevil start burning towards me and lowered my speed to slightly faster than the Daredevil to try and get him off the gate and more importantly away from the Drake.

Playing with my speed I manage to pull a 90km range on the Drake with the Rifter 30km off me and the Daredevil 10km off. I slow slightly and let the Daredevil get a scram on me. I hit full speed and orbit and activate everything I have.

We're dancing in the ring of death and he has his web on me slowing me down and hitting me hard with his Neutron blasters while I have loaded Fusion ammo and start stripping his armor away at a good rate.

The Rifter has closed and has now joined in the fight, with another web on me and compined DPS of a Neutron Blaster Daredevil and a 150 AC fit Rifter, this fight could go either way.

My shields are gone as the Daredevil explodes and I immediatley switch to the Rifter. I am now in deep armor and watch carefully as first his shields and then as he hits half armor I hit structure. This is going to be close. My Damage control does it's job and the damage definetly slows, just enough for me to finish the Rifters armor and strip his structure till only a pod sat in the middle of a wreck.

I finish the fight with no shields, no armor and 86% structure not to mention some fleet members who didn't get in on the kills. Whoops...

The Drake is still around but by now I have brought my fleet mates into Dantumi, he bails and heads to Ossa.

We check out the local systems finding nothing then head back up the pipe through Isho, noticing Duke is still out in his Wolf, and towards Tama.

Unfortuantley we find very little on the way to Tama. A couple of BS's we couldn't take (Scorp and Machariel) and a Rifter who didn't want to play.

As we hit Tama RL interrupted my carefully laid EvE plans. My 1 year old boy woke up needing some milk and cuddles to go back to sleep.

Sorry I didn't get any kills for you guy Saiyon, Amber and Fang. I promise that when we go out over the weekend I WILL get us a fleet kill and not be totaly selfish ;-)

The return of the solo pvper

Two posts on the same day you guys are so spoilt (if anyone even reads this anymore with that damn virus warning)

So anyway my last entry was quite down hearted but this one is much more upbeat. First of I decided to go on another roam today, this time in my Dramiel. I also decided to head to an area that I have called home and still think of as my spiritual birth place, Ishomilken.

So I started out and couldn't find a decent fight in the 20+ jumps down to Isho so headed straight to one of my old favourite hunting areas, Mara.

On jumping into Mara I noticed a Hurricane on scan. I have fought Hurricanes in Dramials before and always come off very much dead. However I decided to take a look as he was in a belt with wrecks out.

Warping in I get the tackle on a neutral Hurricane and start bringing his shields down expecting to either get jumped or neuts to be slammed on me. Nothing happens accept he tries shooting me with 425ac's which miss me over and over again.I realise that my guns are doing very little against this guys shield and open a convo with him. I ask um for 50 million ISK ransom which he says he doesn't have so the fight gOSS on. Being so far from the rest of my Corp means I have no help to call in so when a Ferox comes on scan I ask him to come in and help me.

The Ferox pilot laughs at me and thinks I am baiting him to his doom... Good idea but I could really do with some help!

Then Htrag of Carebear Stare enters local. Now he is a very hostile red from a Corp I have had problems with in the past but I tell him in local where I am and in he comes to help me finish the Hurricane off. Big thanks go to Htrag of CBS on this one.

Looking at the killmail I realise why I couldn't do it alone. That is one tanky little Hurricane!!

After this fight I go back to Isho and find a ratting Catalyst and then chase a Rifter around till he dies in a ball of flame.

Then a Rifter opens a Cyno in Isho and I kill that in a old Drake I have had for about 2 years! I warp from the kill to a belt where a damn Rapier uncloaks and cyno's a Redeemer onto my ass, I manage to get the rapier into hull before I go pop!

Heading back out in my Dram I kill a Burst and log off with a good feeling, maybe lowsec isn't dead, maybe I just haven't been looking in the right place!

So after my blog post yesterday I decided to take a vagabond out to find some pew in low sec. After going about 20 jumps without finding anything around I landed in Old Man Star and there was a red Hurricane in a belt with nothing else on scan. I decided to engage.

Hurricane vs Vaga should of been an ok fight so was looking forward to this. I landed and started the engagement then his friends started arriving. The dram and crusader scrammed me while the loki applied the webs and the Tengu and Cynabal brought the dps. As you probably gathered i didn't last long against that and it sort of makes my point for me...

Blobtastic lowsec pvp? Probably here to stay so I might not be...

Hit and run tactics.So a couple of days ago I went on a 39 jump roam with a couple of corpies down from Ami to Ishomilken, the spiritual home of Fla5hy Red and The Defenders of Pen Island.

We found nothing to shoot except a Hurricane who had neuts and friends. We lost 2 of our 5 frigates in this fight but carried on to Isho. 39 jumps and nothing. Great.

Anyway the next day I had to work so coupldn't get back to Ami and this is where the story starts.

I log on and find a Fla5hy fleet of BC's with Falcon support out on a roam. I realise that I am still in Isho and that I have no way of getting back to Ami quickly. So... I decide to pod myself.

Not a big issue as I haven't got any implants in this clone. So I check my clone is up to date and initiast self destruct. 2 minustes later and I am in... Eggelhende. WTF?!

I must of forgot to change my home system. What a failure.

At this time the fleet are telling me to hurry the fuck up and get into my double web Loki as the need web support. Only one thing for it. Upgrade my clone, CHANGE STATION and self destruct again.

So now I am in Ami and in my double web Loki 'Falkor' and race off to meet the gang.

Our destination is Gondista and off we go with a scout out ahead.

We find nothing on the way there to play with but thwen we get to Gondista we find a gang on the high-sec gate.

Raven, Devoter, couple of Hurricanes, Myrm, Abaddon, Brutix and a Rapier. We sit on the in gate for a minute deciding on what primaries will be for the Falcon and the DPS.

We have 2 Hurricanes, Brutix, Harbinger, Falcon, Loki so we are out numbered and outshipped but decide that with the Falcon it would be pretty even.

The falcon goes in and cloaks 50km off the camping fleet who are sitting on the gate. They are red so for once we don't need to worry about the blasted gate guns.

We all jump and start to warp to the out gate. It's a 100+ Au warp and if the othe rgang are quick they should be able to get away.

We land and I lock up the Raven but as I don't have a point on the ship I don't activate and mods on him. If I had webbed him he would of insta warped if one of my gang didn't already have point.

Doesn't matter anyway cause we don't get point on the Raven but do get point on 2 Hurricanes and a Brutix.

My webs are faction so I sit 30km from the fight locking down the primary and shooting barrage out of my 220mm Ac's.

1st Hurricane is down so we switch to the other and he goes down too. The enemy Brutix is completely useless in this fight. Our fleet is keeping range. somewhere around 20 km for the 'Canes and Harby, 30km for me in the Loki and 50km for the Falcon. Easily keeping out of a slow blaster boats range.

2nd Hurricane down and we quickly dispatch the Brutix and go to a safe.

Now our scout is looking at the gate we need to use to go back to Ami and his reports are starting to worry us. The gang we just fought are now massing a gate camp there to catch us and they are serious. We're talking Raven, 5 x Abbadon, Armageddon, Megathron, Devoter and a number of Battlecruisers.

We strike up a conversation and our FC decides to use a ruse to clear the out gate. The other gang have offered us a 5v5 BC fight. Our FC agrees but does not intend to go through with it. Our scout c#keeps watch on the gate and lo'and behold they warp of gate to swicth ships and argue about who is going to take part!

We wave in local and make our tactical retreat.

Now you may think that we were a bit cowadly there but I would disagree. We took on a vastly supierior fleet on a gate and got 3 kills to no losses. We were in thier home system so we could not garuntee a fair fight and they can tailor thier gang to defeat ours as they have prior knowledge of our ship. They could of fought us on gate but didn't and then we tricked them to get them off our escape gate.

We made our way home and started playing with a Abaddon and Drake that were playing docking games on our station. Nothing came of this and we were about to get bored when an Arazu undocks. We target and shoot it. Get him to about half armor when suddenly a cyno goes up and 15+ BS and BC fall on top of us from a Titan bridge. And yes, it is the corp from earlier and friends.

Yikes! 'Scatter' is called and we all start burning out. My Loki gets out without a problem but we lose a Hurricane and a Brutix.

Now if I was FC of that gang I would of primaried my T3 as the most expensive ship and made sure points were spread but what ever.

Fail FCing is Fail.

So lets look at the score shall we?

- We took a small gang to thier home system and managed 3 BC kills.

- They titan bridged a BS heavy gang onto our small fleet and managed 2 BC kills.

We are still 1 kill ahead at my count so bring on the next fights. Least we know they have a Titan now...

Red 4 down! RIP Flight Lt. Jon Egging

(This is off topic and has nothing to do with EvE online)

So I live in Bournemouth which for the last few years has hosted a free air festival over the beach and cliffs of the Bournemouth and Poole bay.

I love it and tend to try and get down there for atleast 1 day of the 4 that it is on.

One of my favorites to watch are, of course, the Red Arrows RAF display team flying thier BAE Hawk T1A training planes.

Today is the 3rd day of the air festival in Bournemouth. Day 1 was washed out after torrential rain caused flash floods through the streets. town centre and the gardens leading down to the beach itself. Thousands of pounds worth of damage was done with manhole covers and pavements exploding upwards as the water pressure built.

Today we mourn the loss of Flight Lt. Jon Egging.

After wowing the crowds of thousands on Bournemouth beach and cliffs, which included his wife, the Red Arrows turned for Bournemouth International Airport. Before landing the Red Arrow completed one more maneuver over the airport itself.

Crowds always gather to meet the pilots as they land and the Red Arrows always do a last show for them and to thank the Air Traffic control team where they are performing.

However this time tragedy struck for when trying to turn back for a landing, Jon lost power to his Hawk jet and fell to the ground 1 mile short of Bournemouth International Airport onto the banks of the river Stour close to Throop Watermill.

I personally know that area. I live less than 4 miles from where the plane came down and have walked the path next to the river and used the cycle path down there.

I feel quite emotional about this incident as I watched the Red Arrows from my bedroom window less than 7 hours ago. I watched with my baby son and my partner and enjoyed the spectical and minutes later the young man was dead.

I was planning to go watch the closing display tomorrow, now I will still be going but I will be wearing red as a mark of respect to a brave man and one of the best pilots in the world.

I want to extend my prayers and condolences to the family and friends of Jon Egging, the Red Arrow team and the engineers and ground team who worked closely with Jon.

Red 4 may be down but I believe Flight Lt Jon eggings will continue flying in every one of his team mates, friends, family and all those who saw him perform.

He Was Amazing.

Jaguar Vs Harbinger

Hey guys and girls!

So I decided to take a run up to the system of New Eden. This is about 13 jumps from where I am living at the moment and thought I might as well while I am in the area and got nothing going on.

So I jump into my Jaguar 'Rusty Cock' and head on up, looking for fights on the way.

I find a few big stuff floating around, A Hurricane doing a mission, a Raven warping between gates and a couple of carriers on stations but nothing that I could really get my little Assault Frigates' teeth into.

I make it to the system of New Eden without finding any fights so I take a screen shot (below) and float around for a minute to see if the Prophecy on scan is interested in coming to have a look at my Jag. No go and he's in a safe so I decide to head back.

Stopping on the way home I dock and go for a quick Bio-break and a smoke.

Coming back I undock and find a Harbinger outside the station. He lets go a flight of T2 Hammerheads and starts locking me. Interested, I decide to orbit him at 500 and see if he will engage me.

At this moment I am thinking through the pro's and cons of having a fight here.

So it was about 50-50% on whether to go for it when in local he asks me to 1v1 no outside interference. That negates the alliance mates and friends IF he is faithful to his word.

He engages his point but doesn't activate a web so I start feeling pretty confident. I target his drones while keeping a tight orbit to the Harbinger with my TD working overtime to keep him from getting any lucky hits. Drones 1-5 go down in just under 3 minutes and only having 50m3 of space in the drone bay I know that he is out of drones.

So now I start in on the Harby and chew through his shield while my tank is stayting steady at 40% shield. Then i hit armor and damage basically stops. He is armor tanked with a repper. He is easily tanking my damage while I speed tank/TD to negate his incoming damage.

Stalemate.

The fight itself lasted about 9 minutes. 3 minutes on the drones, 2 minutes to get his shield down and 4 minute hammering my head against his armor tank.

After this we both sort of just said 'GF', I gave him some pointer on being fit for anti-frig and he told me that normally he flies in a fleet and this would be his first 1v1 with a real PVP'er.

So Assault Frig Vs Battlecruiser? Apart from not having enough DPS to break a tank it really does depend on how the BC is fit.

If he had had a web and 2 flights of light drones he probably would of one easily. Because he had medium drones (shit tracking) and no web I managed to keep a high speed orbit and tank both him and his drones.

I would also use this same Jaguar against a Brutix. Blasters have really bad tracking and I would happily fight one if I could garuntee it didn't have a web (IE Shield Brutix)

Anyway that was fun. I like taking on bigger prey in smaller ships when possible.

Fla5hy Red Needs EU players!

Evening all.

So this is the first blog in a while and I just want to say, that if your reading this, thanks for coming back after such a long absence!!

Right so onto business. Fla5hy Red has expanded greatly in the last few weeks but only in the US timezone. Big up to our US directors for being on the ball with that.

Now it's my turn and while I've got nothing against the yanks, it would be nice to get some more action in the EU time zone... IE my bloody time zone!

So if you/are:

- Thinking of trying low sec PVP/Piracy
- Over 10 mil SP (Exceptions could be made, please still apply if under this and fit rest of the criteria)
- Enjoy logging on, fleeting up and roaming around to find kills.
- Experienced in small gang PVP or willing to learn

Excellent, I love a bit of fan mail and will always acknowledge in local if possible and I'm not AFK however this is the first time I managed to pop my fan 15 minutes later!

First off though, I was in my Jaguar (Rusty Cock) just roaming around solo looking for my first kill of the new 'season'. I landed on a gate to find a Myrmidon had also just landed. The pilot is a well known moron of the area so I just sat there and let him engage. As he did I jumped through and reaproached while seeing if anyone was awake in TS.

Paydirt. Ollie and Fo' were both alive (out of the 7 on TS...) and on thier way. Fo' had a session timer so would be lagging but Ollie was enroute in his new toy... the Loki.

So the Myrm jumped through and I let hiom get me to half shields before jumping back and reaproaching yet again. I waited and he jumped back and again engaged and I again jump back only this time Ollie was also thier waiting and Fo' and his hurricane were on the way too.

I asked the question to Ollie 'Thats a double web Loki right?' and got a bad response. 'No mate, just the one'

Shit. I hoped Fo' would get there but I wouldn't bet on him having a web on the Hurricane. Myrm jumps back through and lo and behold burns straight to gate, jumps and warps on the other side.

That was a fail. If we had the double web Loki it would of been one dead Myrm. *Sad Face*

So we start heading back Fo' ahead me in the middle and Ollie behind when I notice my fan from earlier, Logan Ortese, jump with me into the next system in a Wreathe. I start aproaching and the Wreathe cloaks. I carry on the approach manually and get the hero uncloak!

Scrammed and overloaded guns, plus a little help from Ollie and thats the first kill of my season and I am off the starter blocks.

Watch out New Eden. Mail Lite is back and is ready for blood.

Fun roams with new friends.

I say 'new friends' but I know that some of the Defenders of Pen Island have been friendly and flying with Shadow Cartel for some time. However it has only just become something that I have started to do and I have to admit I enjoy it.

So last night I log on and Helicity Bosun says 'Mail shield roam with shadow in 45 mins, u coming?'

I look at my ships and start thinking of what I would take to such a roam. My eye light up when I see the two Loki hulls I have fitted up recently and tell Heli I will be there.

I do a quick refit, changing the MWD for an AB and the point for a Invul. I knew that it would be unlikely that we would set off without dedictaed tackle so I felt good sacrificing the point for a bit of extra tank. But i wimp out in taking the faction web Loki i own and instead used my T2 fit one. I know... Wimp right?

I give my ship to our carrier pilot to jump it over to Shadow's home system and start making my way over in a Taranis. 18 jumps I might even find something to kill on the way.

I start off and find nothing till i realise I am chasing a FW Slicer gate after gate. So when I finally catch up with him I ask him for a 1v1 and start orbiting him nice and close on the gate waiting for him to engage.

He refuses but then a pilot from another faction comes through in a Wolf and they start the fight. I'm a bit slow to whore on the Slicer KM and the Wolf pilot doesn't want to fight me =(

So i make it to Shadow's home system Goinard. Easily one of the best EvE System names... Go In 'Ard... get it? Eh...

Anyway we get a Bs heavy fleet together with some lighter stuff and reps and we head out and scout out a small gatecamp in Mannar and send some tackle and bait through. They engage and we jump the rest of the fleet in. Our main target, an Absolution command ship, manages to warp away but we take out a Ferox and Hurricane.

We then continue on and find a very heavy BC gang in on of the systems up the same pipe. they obviously have eyes on our bigger BS heavy fleet and scatter before we can tackle anything.

A Carrier is undocked from one of the stations in the next system so we send Jawmare and a couple of other Tempests to try and bump the guy off station. Jawmare is engaged by the carrier and somehow gets popped by it! Much *Facepalm* ensues and then *facedesks* when the KM is linked... Um Jaw I think you forgot your rigs, just saying!

A Manticore decides to try and lol kill some of our gang while we are waiting on the gate for FC to scout some people out and gets popped for it's trouble. Not sure what that pilot was thinking but what ever.

We then play some station games with a couple of Machariels but we got real bored real fast so started scouting a B A N E fleet in Amamake. Wowbagger sends in some cloaky tackle but somehow they all get uncloaked and the main bulk of the other fleet warps off. However this Hurricane is a bit slow and gets taken out.

Wish we could of got more of the B A N E fleet as we have some history with those guys and it's always nice to blob the blobbers lol.

So we start out again and find a Geddon and Apoc Navy sitting on a station. We send through some bait and the Geddon agresses so we put the rest of the fleet in and pop him. We then start on the unagressed Apoc Navy but he docks. To bad.

Same system we find a Abaddon on the other station and go in to make him dock.

He just sits there with combined DPS of our fleet hitting him. He goes into low armor and we're all loling at his repair bill, waiting for him to dock.

Nope he no dock. He pops just sitting on station and we get his pod too. WTF? AFK Abaddon? WTF FACTION FIT AFK ABADDON?! A 1.7 BILLION ISK AFK FACTION FIT ABADDON!

Much lols were had at this point.

We warp to the out gate and a Wolf comes in so we pop that and get this in local from the Wolf pilot.

We wait for our scouts to report. Drake and Gila on the next gate. We agress the Drake and put a tackler on the other side to make sure we don't lose them. They both jump through and the Gila is pointed and popped but the Drake gets away.

We start to head down to Tama to get a good fight and find a FW fleet on a high sec gate. We jump into it and they all start jumping out. We manage to grab a Hurricane before he gets out but everyone else jumps back to high sec.

I have to leave at this point so thank the FC and reppers for a good night and go to bed. Looking at the KB this morning it looks like I didn't miss much, they mangaed to catch 2 more of the FW Hurricanes in Tama but thats about all.

All in all a nice little fleet action. Too bad we didn't find any other fleets to engage but we all had a bit of fun and managed to pop some good stuff.

The last word goes to Trenny Jr, who for some reason decided to put a AB on his Tempest instead of a MWD and admitted to this when he was trying to bump the Carrier

Armor roam through low sec with famous people!

Having a great roam tonight but not on Mail.

Hannibal has come into his own tonight flying a Curse. Never flown one in a gang and especially not an armor gang!

Armor gang, this is a change from normal as Defenders of Pen Island are notorious shield nano fags these days.

First kill in the roam was the best. This lovely Macharial. He had 3 carriers and a friend in another Macharial to help him but he still went splat with no losses on our side. Nom Nom!

I also want to mention Rixx Javixx who I had the pleasure to fleet with. And of course Helicity was also here!

Big love to the reppers as well. Those guardians are epic!

Looking for investment opportunities!

Hi all,

Being a pirate is great. I won't ever leave the proffession and at least 1 toon will always be neg sec status for as long as I play.

However being a pirate is not great for the ISK situation.

I have tried PI and market trading and find both of them... meh... boring!

So I am looking for an entrepreneur who I can back with a certain amount of ISK who will then go on and make ISK for both of us.

If this is you, you could already have a business in EvE and be looking to expand or thinking of starting one up, please put together a business plan and send me an ingame EvE message.

If I do not feel I can back the proposal myself I may be able to get some friends to also come in on it. Sort of like an EvE Dragons Den.

A damn good fight!

Hey guys!

Had a great fight last night so thought I would share it with you.

As part of The Defenders Of Pen Island I, and my alliance mates, get alot of stick for blobbing and yeah we do do things like this and this.

It's part of the game and as we play our roles as Pirates, we prey on weak and helpless. Thats sort of part of the Pirate image.

However we also don't run from proper fights if they come up and this was proven yesterday in Sisiede.

So me and Otto are running around in Sisiede in our cloaky probing ships and we both get a hit on this Drake and warp to him at range. I land 50km from him and realise he is sitting about 220km from the Amamake gate. We call on comms and get together a small gank fleet.

Mail in his new Cynabal, Otto in his Drake and a couple of others warp to my cloaky alt who has slowboated into popint range and we start the engagement.

At this moment we are thinking this is probably bait but we could try and gank it and get out.

The Drake is deep in shield when a friend of his in a Hurricane lands, primary is called on the 'Cane and damage is switched over. Then another one of his friends in a Cyclone lands. We make sure we spread our points but just as the enemy 'Cane is going down he manages to warp out.

One of our 'Canes goes down and we find out later that Ollie Khan, one of my best mates in RL, is a total FAIL and had fit a Medium Shield Extender II to his 'Cane instead of a large one. Moron...

Anyway back to the fight and primary is switched back to the Drake and he is finished off. Once he is down we switch to the Cyclone just as the rest of his gang lands. The first Hurricane comes back with another 2 'Canes in tow plus a Brutix, Dominix, Tempest and Blackbird.

The primary is switched again to the 2nd of the 2 'Canes and he dies in a ball of fire and the next primary, Tempest, is called. Our fleet are spreading points and keeping range as the Domi is heavy neut fitted.

Piscis is throwing missiles 90km out to the Blackbird who has to scarper before he gets melted. Damage is still on the Tempest and it eventually goes boom with the next primary being another of the Hurricanes.

Our fleet all being shield and nano fit are easily keeping range on the armor fleet and able to put alot more damage on them than they are able to put on us. Piscis is still on anti Blackbird duty and everytime he comes on grid sends missiles flying his way.

2nd Hurricane is down and the primary is now the 3rd Hurricane which also goes down under combined fire of our fleet.

We finally get back to destroying the Cyclone we started earlier and now thier fleet is tring to pull range and warp out from us. Not going to happen when it is armor versus shield but they do try.

Cyclone goes down so we pour the damage onto the Brutix. With our fleet being at least 20km all through the fight he has been completely useless in this engagement which is why we left such a high DPS ship till last. Just in case you were wondering.

The last ship on the field for the other side is thier Dominix. He is now alone facing a full fleet of high DPS ships.

Bye bye Dominix, your neuts will not save you now mwuhahahah!

GF was offered in local by our fleet but only one pilot from thier fleet Gf'd back and that was the Blackbird pilot... probably because he didn't die!

Hi People!

I'm coming back.

Quite simply I have not had time recently to devote to blogging about EvE online but I have been playing a bit, now and again.

So lets do a quick update on the Mail Lite family. We'll start with RL first, I now have a 4 and a half month old son, Daniel. He loves sitting on my knee while I am playing EvE and I am hoping to get him into EvE when he is older. Lol!

Now for in game news about my 'Family', the pirate corp named Fla5hy Red.

As you guys probably all know we became very friendly with Python Cartel pretty much as soon as we left The Guristas Associates and started our own corp.

Over a few months it became clear that this would be more than just a passing friendship and we started talks with Python about setting up an official alliance with them,

What resulted was 'The Defenders of Pen Island' Fla5hy Red and Python Cartel were now one big happy and penis loving family. And since then we have gone from strength to strength and are enjoying our pirating more and more.

Now as for my characters.

Mail Lite continues on his way to master Sub-Cap ships. He now has both Gallente and Minmitar Cruiser 5 and is working on the support skills and missiles before maxing out other ship command skills. In the big breaks I have had to take now and again Mail has also been working on gunnery skills and is now proficient enough to hit hard with either blasters or projectiles.

Hannibal is now on his way to -10. I hate missions and I felt that having Hannibal as a high sec toon was a waste of a really good combat toon. Hannibal has maximized his gunnery support skills and is working on T2 large LAZORS for his Abbadon.

He's also been using his scanning skills in and around Egglehende is one of the first points of call when we see a squishy mission runner in local.

TKK is now playing with Planetary Interaction and is currently making around 10mil a day. Not a lot but not bad for someone who only started 3 days ago!!

There have been some good fights recently and I think I will mention 2 of them. The first was fleet on fleet and the last was a gank.

Ok so the fleet on fleet foght all started when Hannibal scanned down a Drake doing a mission in Egg. We get 100% warp through 2 gates and pop the guys Drake in short order. Nothing special in that I guess but what happened next was a really good fight.

We fere sitting in the guys mission for a few minutes, talking and joking about penises when we got an Armageddon, Apocalypse and Dramiel on scan within 90km of where we were sitting. They were obviously sitting on the first gate so I sent Hannibal in his Falcon to go have a look.

Low and Behold they are sitting on the first gate so I get close to them and our fleet warps to the closest celestial and then back to Hannibal. We get point on each of them and then a Rapier uncloaks, a couple of minutes later a foe Falcon uncloaks and a Cynabal comes in too. The fight is on!

We primary the Rapier while keeping points on the other ships. I jam the secondary target with Hannibal while attacking the rapier with Mail. Rapier goes down in a blaze of glory and then we point the enemy Falcon. Their Falcon tries to jam mine and misses, he then tries to jam Mail's Hurricane but misses again. At this point he explodes. Hannibal is keeping jams on one of the Battleships, the enemy Cynabal is now 156km from the fight and burning away, the Dramiel is one shotted by Otto and is out of the fight and the Apoc warps away.

We destroy the Armageddon and just as he explodes his friend in the Apocalypse warps back into the middle of the fight. No idea why he did that but points are switched and the Apocalypse is turned to space dust.

That's a Rapier, Falcon, Armageddon, Apocalypse and Dramiel down with a Cynabal getting away. Not to mention the Drake we ganked in his mission with no losses on our side. I would call that a good fight.

The other engagement I wanted to talk to you about happened the next day. I was just docking up to feed the little one when a call came from our scout in a neighbouring high sec system.

'Dominix Navy Issue on scan, no wait it's on gate! Get to GATE!'

I of course un-docked and warped straight to the gate along with a couple of others and point was called and damage was poured on. He didn't last long, I think it was a bit of suprise to be ganked that quickly.

Anyway down he went and point was called on pod. I called that I was going to ransom the pod and dragged him into a special channel. My opening offer was 300mil for the pod, expecting a bit of negotiation but no. He asked for 30 second to move some ISK around and then my wallet blinked. 300Mil in my account.

Points were lifted and off he scooted. We checked the wreck and found a number of faction mods. the nearly 1 billion ISK killmail is here!

All in all the 7 people on that kill received a total of just under 80 million ISK each. Not bad for a pirate!

Noobs, stupid moves and sad news.

Ok so which one shall we start with...

Lets start with the sad news.

We still have friends within the ranks of The Guristas Associates and the sad news came via them last night.

Gilg sent out a EvE mail to the Associates saying that The Black Rabbits Academy would be closing as of 7th September 2010 after downtime.
The news came as a bit of a shock if I am honest to all in Fla5hy Red. Alot of the membership of our new corp put alot of time and effort into building TBRA into the best pirate training corp in EvE and we are all sad to see it go.

The offer has been opened for any member of TBRA, regardless of SP to join TBR proper so at least that is something.

Next we will talk about my stupid move.

Now as regular readers of this blog will know I have been training all out for a Phobos. Well last week I finally finished all the skills needed and took my phobos out for a test spin and got on some kills as the role of a Gatecamp fast lock. Nice.

Yesterday a few members of Flashy Red went up to Ikoskio for a bit of a roam/GC and got a couple of kills, then a large FW fleet came through so we started home.

I lagged behind slightly and hit a gate at the same time as a Raptor Interceptor. I jumped through after him and got point and thought I could kill it before his friends showed up.

I was wrong and here is the KM. Ouch.

However I never fly what I can't afford to lose so it will be replaced shortly. It's useful to have in my hanger at any rate.

Now lets talk about Noobs.

Flashy Red (+1 honourary Python member) yesterday took out a good little fleet, T1 and T2 cruisers were the order of the day and after heading to Abune and chasing a Hurricane around we turned for home with no kills and no loses. We did engage 3 frigs in a plex but they were quick and got out of our range.

On the way home we have to pass very close to Tama and itching for a fight we decided it would be a good place to stick our nose in.

In we go and start moving around looking for some thing to kill. Top belt was active with the same gang of frig we had engaged earlier but they didn't hang around long once we were there. then a couple of Cynabals came in and ran away. Shame.

Atfter a couple of minutes we scanned a Drake down in 6-2 belt and expecting a trap all the way we warped in pointed and pounded on him. nothing on scan, nno help was coming.

A lone Drake in a belt in Tama? Ok... Fair enough and thats a kill for us then!

So we go back to a safe and keep scanning around. Our cloaky running around blets and planets a#for targets.

Then we get this in local.

Invite to fleet and he accepts and our cloaky gets nice and close to him and then warps him to the rest of the fleet, and man are we happy when we find out he is flying a Drake!

We motor towards him careful not to lock him till we are in point range, just incase we scare him off.

Once we are all firing I have to admit to feeling a bit sorry for the poor git. I hear a number of other people in vent also saying the same sort of thing. However even as I am saying we should ransom him or stop firing I never stopped my guns lol.

So we continue to hang around and see another noob in another Drake (are they giving them away somewhere?) and after chasing him through 3 belts we give up and send him a fleet invite... And he accepts.

He's on station so we send our cloaky in to warp him to us. Alas, as we get ready he docks and drops fleet. Maybe not so stupid then? We will never know.

Of course by now we have been in system to long and a group has come in with the express notion to kill us. We try and take them on and have a Harby in structure before we GTFO. In the end we lost a Thorax, Omen and Rupture. Good fun was had by all.

Ok the last thing I need to do is plug a friends blog. Go read it. Angelina is an old TGA member and a great writer.

Hello all,

So what has been happening since i last posted on this blog? Well first I guess is the news the Mail Lite has left The Guristas Associates.

I wish TGA all the best and hope that everything goes well in the future.

I have loved flying with all of you! I was on EvE for less than a month
before I joined up with you all and now I am alot older and wiser and feel that
it is time to break away and do things my own way.

I hope that alot of you rabbits will at least keep in touch and read the blog to know how things are going. I will pop back and post on the public forum when my other half has the baby and will always consider the Rabbits a home. You never know I might be back one day.

My new home? FLASHY RED is a corp of ex TGA members who have left over the last few days. They include the ex-TGA Bloggers, Astral, Mr Kha, 8agpuss and Cebit.

The plan for FLASHY RED is that everyone in the alliance is good friends, can trust each other no matter what and all love logging in to Low Sec PVP.

This is the common thing everyone in our new corp wanted, to be able to log in, enjoy the company of those around you and go blow some shit up. No Politics just PVP.

We also have no blue list yet, not even our alts. We are thinking of setting up or joining a friendlies alt corp just so we can get stuff in and out without having to worry about it getting blown up by our own guys... lol.

Another interesting thing. FLASHY RED has decided to take up residence alongside Python Cartel. We're not blue so if one gets caught by the other then it's fair game, but we have an understanding regarding station games etc. It ain't going to happen.

It's also nice being back 'home' in Ishomliken, how long we stay here is anyone's guess but at least we know the area and it's a nice place to start a new corp.

So thats that. A new KB will be up and running very shortly and a forum is up for members of FLASHY RED.

One other thing I have to mention. Astral over at EvE Trials by Fire keeps getting ISK and ships given to him by readers of his blog. I mean he got given a Faction fit Cruor a couple of days ago... Are all my readers poor or something? Lol

As of yesterday The Black Rabbits Academy is reopening it's door to pilots, new and old, to leanr the ways of low-sec PVP, Pirating and terrorism.

We have opened an astonishing 75, yes 75, new places in the Academy. We will be taking people from any timezone. We will be trying to get a good spread of all the timezones and not 70 EU and 5 US or something stupid!

Escalation

No, not a plex escalation, a PVP Escalation.

Earlier in the day a Back To Yarr fleet had been harrasing TGA members in the area surrounding our home system. It was not a specific attack, just oportunities that opened up to them.

So when I logged on I jumped onto teamspeak to find a counter fleet getting ready to head out as a scout has reported an 8 man Back To Yarr gang 3 jumps out. Jumping into my Ferox, Morrigan, I joined up and headed for the rendevous point. Our scout kept eye's on the gang while we formed up on the gate to the system they were in.

Our FC jumped his Tengu in and started trying to scan them down. They had all just got GCC so had obviously just engaged in a fight somewhere.

Our FC scanned them down to a belt and warped in to get a tackle.

'Point' was called and in we jumped, warped to our FC and landed just as most of the BTY fleet were running away. We caught and destroyed a Hurricane but nothing else wanted to play so we headed back to Auner for a quick break and decided what we wanted to do with our now 13 man fleet.

We decided to take it out for a roam up to Amamake so the fleet formed up again and we started making our way there.

Our scout was in a Malediction, Amarr Interceptor, and jumping ahead of us. He called the fact that there was a Abbadon on the outgate of the system we were in. We were already in warp at the time so we figured we could take it out and carry on. Then our scout in the next system laid out the bomb shell.

The Abbadon was Back To Yarr and we had a fleet on the other side of the gate consisting of another Battleship, A Command Ship and 7 Battlecruisers. They had obviously not liked our ninja kill of their Hurricane earlier and decided to come back with bigger guns.

We landed on the gate and the FC fleet warped us out to a safe. One of our hurricanes and one of our Myrmidons got stuck. The Myrm decided to engage the Abbadon while the Hurrican jumped into the next system and held his cloak. When it dropped he tried burning back to the gate but the combined DPS of the BTY fleet was to much and one of our Hurricanes went splat.

I believe the Myrm went splat also by the Abbadon.

We decided to go back to Auner and ecalate this further. 3 of our boys hopped out of their Battlecruisers and into Carriers and 2 others switched to Battleships. We also called up some friends to see if they could get involved and they answered with a couple of pilots, tho i think they were to late to the show to actually shoot anything! Sorry guys =(.

I fitted a Cyno to my Ferox and was made FC for the duration of the fight.

We got one of our cloaky guys in a Falcon to see if he could find the fleet but no go, they were in system but not in space. I checked the station and all the gang were in there.

Probably going to the loo and getting a coffee.

I undocked and ordered the fleet to get to the safe spot we use for camping. My thought was to get them to bait us to a gate, take the bait and get all of thier ships to engage and then drop a the Carriers on them.

Unfortuantly word came that the BTY fleet went to the other gate and was baiting us there. I ordered one of our battleships to play bait and get them to engage.

They locked out Battleship up and engaged, thier Abbadon had jumped so he burnt back to gate and joined his friends on our side of the gate.

Once that happened I lit the cyno and continued to call primaries. As soon as the Cyno had been lit my Ferox was Primary and went down like a sack of shit. I didn't even bother asking for reps knowning it would be to late. I was in my pod and int#stead of warping out i just sat in the middle of the fight and continued to call the primaries.

First to go down was my Ferox. I didn't get on any killmails, that sucks but hey thats the price you pay for lighting a Cyno I guess.

First Primary was a Absolution. the Amarr Command Ship, it went down slowly but it did go down.

Next was the Hurricane. The same pilot the we destroyed earlier, I did that one just for the comic factor. (Please note the Sentry Gun. Not often you see that on OUR side!)

The last ship to go down was the Abbadon. He had jumped through from the other side and had been succesfully bumped a couple of times during the fight to keep him off the gate. He melted before our eye's.

The rest of the BTY gang had started to deagress and jump through into the next system. We got a couple more shots off on a Dominix but he jumped through in armor.

This all started when a small back to yarr fleet preyed on a couple of single TGA ships. It then escalated to a small fleet on fleet skirmish were we got one of their canes. They then came back with battleships and melted a Hurrican and Myrm of ours. That then escalated to Battleships, Battlecruisers , Commandships and Carriers on a gate.

Will there be another escalation in hostilities between ourselves and BTY? I hope so. This was the most fun fight I have been in for a while. Even though I was out early and was in my pod for 90% of the fight just calling primaries.

Hi all!

Couple of quick things.

Thanks to everyone who commented on my last blog post about ship names. I enjoyed reading all of them and if you haven't read them go do so. Some interesting stuff and some good ideas.

Since being back in EvE after moving house I have added a few new ships to my ready-to-fly fleet.

I have recently been flying a shield tanked Brutix and, while I like the DPS of the ship alot, I don't like it's tank at all.

However I still like the Blaster/Shield combo so have bought myself a Ferox and fitted it up. It has a much nicer tank than the Brutix and still puts out enough DPS to lay down some hurt.

I have also added a Jaguar, Wolf and Claw to my fleet. Guess who finished Minmitar Frigate 5 recently?!

I'm looking forward to getting out and flying one of these smaller ships tonight in a frig roam. I think I will take the Claw out first as it has just the right amount of DPS, Speed and Tank to spark my interest in how it handles itself as a fast tackle.

I said I got a Wolf... well actually it's my second Wolf. The first one exploded when I undocked from station with aggression. My thought process went something like this.

Undock
See Ticks in his Loki locking me up
See damage coming in, thinking it's from the Loki and will stop
Get told to warp away
Tell Ticks to stop firing as I am in structure
Oh shit i'm in my Pod
Realise Ticks wasn't firing and it was actually station guns
Go mute with disbelief that I was that dumb
Laugh my head off that a 20+ million ship lasted all of 5 minutes because of it's pilots stupidity.

Yeah so that was a fail but at least it wasn't my new, and most expensive toy to date, the Phobos.

I still can't quite fly the thing yet but I have it, fitted and ready to go. Thank for that Hattori and I hope you enjoy the Curse!

Had a few kills since I have been back but the one that stand out the most was a Ferox kill in our home system of Auner.

Over the last week or so we have been running into a certain pilot called Rinolt. He's got a couple of kills on us and we have had a couple of kills on him. The Ferox I mentioned was his and this is how it went down.

I logged on and jumped into a MWD Rifter that I am experimenting with at the moment on TS came a request from Tar'el, a TBRA Director to aviod engaging Rinolt in his Ferox as they were going to 1v1 at the top belt.

Fair enough. I warped on over to a 20okm safe I have at that belt and joined the fleet Tar'el and Rinolt were in so I could do the watchlist trick but Rinolt didn't wanna play and after warping in and starting the engagement he left the fleet.

Tar'el called the fight over TS and the shield of his Drake was holding at about 10% when the Ferox burnt out of range and warped off the field of battle. Leaving Tar'el as the victor.

Now with TGA 1v1's if a pilot warps away from the fight the 1V1 is over and normal hunting is resumed.

As I happened to be in a very fast Rifter and close to the fight I saw where Rinolt had warped to and took a chance.

Warping to the planet at 0 I landed right on top of the Ferox and scrammed and webbed it. Then I called in the rest of the Rabbits. We attempted a Ransom but couldn't agree a price so pop went the Ferox. I had dropped point on the ferox when I knew a number of other had him so when he exploded I managed to snag his Pod.

After a bit of negotiation we netted a 30mil ransom for his pod and let him escape. My Rifter had just paid for itself in one engagement. Nice!

How do you name your ships?

My enforced EvE hiatus (only 36 hours left) has made me think about a theme to name my ships after.

I thought first off about famous pirate ships but didn't really like them. Then I thought about Starwars ships. Imperial Cruisers maybe. Na.

Then I started thinking mythological. Dragons was a first thought... But I decided against it as I know Gilg likes using Dragon names.

So I started looking up gods and godesses. Bingo.

So I started with a list of the ships I fly and what I will be flying soon and started naming them.

The Gallente will be named after the gods of War. (I use these most and take them to war more than any other)

IE: My Brutix will be named after the Egyptian god of War, Horus.

The Minmitar will be named after the gods of Thunder. (something to do with the sounds the guns make)

So the Jaguar will be named after the Norse God of Thunder, Thor.

And the Caldari after the gods of Death. (cause they are cool)

And this would mean I could name my Drake after the Egyptian god of Death, Anubis!

So keep an eye out in space, if you see a god of Thunder, god of War or a god of Death coming at you... It well might be me!

Que 39 pages of 'Fix the fucking game and then we will see where the votes go' and the 'I'll vote for EvE online... in about 18 months!'

The 18 months bit comes from this recent Dev Blog which basically says that for the next 18 months teams will be focused on new features, Dust and Incarna rather than fixing fleet lag and Low Sec.

Of course gaming sites soon got wind the general outrage of EvE customers. Being asked to vote for a game which is putting new features and unwanted content to attract new subscribers in front of fixing the game as it is for loyal and somewhat obsessed fan base.

A nice engagement!

Well ok then... thats was a fun night.

We were camping a local gate when 2 of our TBR boys, Ticks and Darkviron gave us intel that there was a large ish gang on the Klogori gate. 6 Battleships, 2 or 3 Battlecruisers and a couple of smaller things.

The two TBR boys came up with a daring plan. Get a gang together, get them to engage and then drop 2 of our carriers on them.

Fair enough.

So we put the call out on TS and in alliance and get a get result for a fleet. 20 or so answered the call and shipped up in whatever heavy hitter they could find in their hangers..

So we undock and with the MIGHTY TAR'EL acting as FC we fleet warp to one gate from where the enemy was reported. While we are warping our scouts in the frigs Cithilu and Nogusha are keeping tabs and keeping up with intel. Well done boys!

Then squad one, including me in the CYNO ship of death... A borrowed Brutix (Sorry 8agpuss), jumped through and waited for the main of their fleet to go red box. Then I dropped the Cyno, squad 2 jumped in and death insued.

Myself as the Cyno was primary and went down very quickly... but not before our 2 caps jumped in. Tar'el went down next followed very quickly by Apraxas and his Huginn.

Yeah thats right, 2 Battlecruisers and a Recon lost in return for 5 battleships kills, 2 Battlecruisers and a Stealthbomber.

TBRA Frig Tourney

Now as you may or may not have read in other blogs, last night was the TBRA frigate tournament open to members of The Black Rabbits Academy (plus a guest appearence of a TBR member)

Rules were simple. T1 Frigates only. No faction Drones, Hulls or Modules (ammo was OK). No T2 Modules or Drones and No Rigs.

So I decided to fly a Rifter, no tank what so ever except for speed and artilary cannons for guns.

My reasons for this is that generally the TBRA guys all fly Punishers with AC's, Rifters with AC's and Incursus with Blasters. All close range fits so I went for a kiter. Unfotuantley so did many others.

My first fight saw me go up against a close range Punisher and I won that one. Getting my opponent into armor but not managing to complete it. I won by doing more damage than he could do to me.

Nice.

Here's my Rifter in action. Yes I fired off a rocket...

I then went up against the defending champion, Otto Jarvis, and made a mistake, I got in web range, double web range at that. And my Rifter melted. Bad.

So I was out.

Jarek, CEO went up against another Rifter and just manage to squeak through. I think it ended at 2% Shield 4% Armour and 9% Structure as seen below.

But you know what the main fun of the night actually was? It was sitting with friends, laughing, joking, betting and being general guys. I went into the fight with 25mil ISK and left with 30mil ISK due to doing some good bets but losing others. And i got to chat to some of the newer members of the Academy, got to know some of them and I can say with confidence that the current crop of TBRA is a good one.

The final went down to a 4 man BattleRoyal. Jarek Kalensa CEO of TBRA, 8agpuss the pussy cat of the alliance, Gratth the Jammy Griffin pilot and the defending champion who smushed yours truly, Otto.

It was a good fight, 8agpuss cover the fight well over at his blog, many props and a Guristas Worm goes to Otto Jarvis. Gratz mate, least I went down to the overall winner =D And made 10mil to break even after a night of betting.

Would just like to say congratulation to Astral Dominix for his 100th Blogpost. I sent him some spirits so he could celebrate!

And by the way, The Black Rabbits Academy are recruiting again so if anything I have written about has intrested you in a life of piracy some check us out.

Last thing, I am moving house in RL on Friday 23rd and I will be AFK while this happens and until the new service gets installed. No date for this as yet.

A good night, fun times and Revenge

Huh,

I logged on last night not really feeling in the mood for much action and just wanting to read some EvE mails and play with some fittings etc.

I then get the call that a certain Dame Death is sitting outside our station in Auner in a Cynabal. I remind the new members of the academy not to engage on station and to ignore the local smack. Now Dame Death has been a member of The Black Rabbits Academy and was kicked for 'Accidently' engaging blues a number of times. He then was given the benefit of the doubt a couple of weeks later and was allowed to rejoin.

He then left again, joined a alliance that was red to TGA and started being a prat.

He then convinced Gilgamesh to let him back in. So he was back for a couple of weeks, then after a number of arguements between members of the alliance he again, left.

He then AGAIN rejoined the alliance, and after some unpleasentness left once again, this time with a life time ban on all his toons.

Dame disapeared from local and a Python Cartel member, Amanda sat on the station we call home at 0 in an Abbadon. So what do TGA do? Why we undock a couple of Battleships and a few Battlecruisers of course. We are just about to engage the Abbadon when it suddenly drops a Cyno field and Dame Death jumps in with the Archon and Nauticaa soon joins the party in a Thanatos.

Fail on their part, if they had waited a few more seconds we would of been engaged, as it was we all just went 'Meh' and docked up. We may be pirate but we ain't dump pirates...

A couple of minutes later a few of us undock in frigs and cruisers and insta warp out to hunt a couple of FW dude in a plex in Auner. Nice.

We ran around, playing cat and mouse with a Taranis, Punisher and Sabre. The Sabre pilot keeps bouncing around planets. When the call comes that the Sabre is off scan I decided to try warping to the only planet off scan from my position. At 0 at that.

Guess what? Yep, got him. I land less than 5000m away get point and web and keep him locked down. I pour on the damage and advise fleet that they can come in when they want.

Sabre Vs Ishkur 1v1 at the moment and I have to admit, it was close. I got him to about 10% structure before Stuart in his Rupture lands the 121 damage to end him.

As you can see... I got out in structure too! 34% to be exact. Good fight!

Anyway after waiting out the GCC I docked and repaired my Ishkur and Gilgamesh came online and said he wanted a number of heavy hitters. I accidently undocked in my shield Brutix and while I'm out I get locked up by Dame Death, now in an Abbadon with a TBR member as my back up in a Vulture.

Dame Death agresses me and after a couple of hits, Gilg tells me to engage and for eveyone in Auner station to undock and attack. My Brutix is going down quick but is doing a good amount of damage so I hold on and overheat as much as I dare.

The fleet undocks in an assortment of Battleships and Battlecruisers. My Brutix is now going down quick and I send out a broadcast for reps. I get a couple but it is not enough. The Abbadon goes down but with it's LAST SHOT it takes out my Brutix. We also manage to pod Dame Death. I like.

I swiftly reship and rejoin fleet as they start locking up Nauticaa in the Thanatos, and join in as we engage, but it docks back up.

I request to borrow another Brutix from a fleet member and manage to get another shield Brutix to take on a roam that Gilg has put together.

We have a scout in front and a tackle Vulture. We don't get any kills on the way down and when in Amamake we manage to get a Hurricane to engage our Drake and Vulture but is is very quick and motors away from the engagement.

We hang around for a minute but it's quite obvious we ain't going to get any kills here today so we start heading back. On the Dal gate from Amamake we run into this Thrasher who is on autopilot and quickly dispatch him and his pod.

On the way back we see a Back to Yarr fleet of 2 x Hurricanes, 2 x Drake and a Brutix. Fleet splits up on different sides of the same gate. One side has a Hurricane pointed and tries to pop it while the other side has a Brutix locked down.

The Hurricane manages to get back to gate and unfotunatley we have chased the Brutix to far off the gate to get point. However we do get the Brutix. Revenge for my Blackbird loss the day before! Yay!

So we arte back home and I call it a night. For someone who wasn't planning on doing much I seemed to have a damn good night.

One other thing... Cebit, an Academy graduate and now member of The Black Rabbits seems to have kept his blog a BIG secret and it's good, very good. So again, I suggest you go read.

I think we now have a TWR Blog, TBR Blog and 3 TBRA blogs. Not bad, not bad at all.

Jammy Bastard Down!

Hey all,

Just a quick one to let you know that my first Blackbird finally went down in flames last night due to a 'Back to Yarr' gatecamp. Fair play gentlemen.

I immediately went and purchased a new one as I got 10 kills to the 1 loss with the first and really enjoyed flying it.

Maybe I should get a Falcon? I'll think about it after the Arazu and Phobos training is complete.

Another thing, I found out today that a new member of the Academy is keeping a secret blog! Well it ain't secret anymore! It's actually quite good and I will be reading it and I suggest others do as well.

Guest spot: Volstrius, first fleet pod log.

I have decided to give a guest spot on this blog to a new member of The Guristas Associates, Volstruis.

He convo'd me and asked if I have ever done this before and I admitted I hadn't given it much thought before. He sent me a small IC piece and I decided it was really good, good enough to post for all to enjoy.

First Fleet

Get your shit together, get your ass to Auner and get involved. Great, from the Rabbit himself.

Truth be told high sec is no good for a capsuleer. Too much time schmoozing agents and too little time keeping your wits about you. Those high sec rats barely even put up a good fight. Maybe it was the third bottle of whisky or maybe it was the not so subtle truth behind his command but he was right. Playtime was over. It was time to get involved.

I fired up my personal communications platform and logged into the fleet finder. Cebit’s fleet. FC looking for personnel to help defend a nul-sec outpost. Good an opportunity as any I thought as the Thukker engineers were bringing the last my Incursus’ modules online and pod fluid started blurring my vision. Good number and mix of spaceships and clear, crisp leadership had me genuinely excited for the first time in a long time.

The journey was short and uneventful. We made our way to the last low-sec en route, docked up and waited for intel. We didn’t like what we heard. Our scouts painted a pretty bleak picture of the force we were up against and it was time to let discretion best enthusiasm. So we did what any sane group of pirates would in that situation. We roamed.

First couple of systems slipped by pretty uneventfully. Our cruiser pilots managed to grab a few targets on gates but I’ve learnt the hard way not to get involved that close to sentry guns in a frigate. I certainly didn’t want to make my back to Auner first day out in a capsule.

We reached our first waypoint. Gusandal. Pilots moved to safes and we started scanning. Just when we thought it was time to move on, two battleships chose to engage us. The word that comes to mind is foolish. As soon as the call came over the comms, he’s engaged us, the frigate wing warped in and we started our assault. The Drake popped quickly, the Mega docked up to lick his wounds, and the Black Rabbits were the only ones smiling after the encounter.

The whisky at the Thukker Bar back home in Auner was tasting sweeter by the day.!

If this gets a good reception I may ask other members of TBRA, TBR and TWR to contribute to this blog aswell. But for that to happen I would like to get some feed back. Comments please!

I would also like to quickly do a shout out to Kane Rizzel who, today, posted his intent to leave EvE. This will be a great loss not only to EvE but to the whole EvE Blog Network. Don't do it!

A new TGA Blog arrives...

So we have me and Astral blogging about the adventures of our maniacal and wicked pirate ways. And I'm sure you all love it!

But one corp has always been forgotten, sort of like the red haired step child of our alliance. The White Rabbits.

Well from today one of TWR's most skilled and interesting pilots decided to start a blog. I'm sure it will be a great read.

Next up, I posted a couple days ago about the recruitment drive for the Academy. Well we have a great response and, after accepting 12 new pilots and a couple still waiting for interviews, our new CEO decided to close recruitment for a couple of weeks.

This should help our newest pilots.get the training from our older and more experienced members.

If you looking to start a life of piracy keep your eye's on this Blog, Astrals' blog and the EvE-O forums as we will be taking a new influx of students in a couple of weeks.

I also enjoyed doing my Top Five 'Kickass Looking Pirate Ships' and think I may do a couple more Top Five lists in the coming weeks. Just need some idea's!

Best pirate ships in EvE?

Kirth Darkblade posted on his blog today about a question from one of his wingmen Kishin asked.

What is the best pirate ship in EvE?

Now Kirth went down the way of how the ship looks. I have to agree with Kirth that this is a very difficult question to answer as everyone has there own opinion and different ships are best for different engagements.

Personally I love Assault Ships, the Ishkur in particular, and am currently falling in love with the Blackbird as a ECM support ship. Those are two of my favorites.

However look wise, neither come close. So I decided to do what Kirth has done and select my top 5 best looking ships from a 'Kickass!' point of view.

Numer Five: Thrasher

Number Four: Megathron Navy Issue

Number Three: Taranis

Number Two: Pilgrim

Number One: Wolf

These are my personal favorites in the way of how they look. Whats about yours?

EDIT: Thanks to a reader for pointing out that I totaly fail and put a picture of a Kronos up instead of the Megathron Navy Issue. This has now been fixed. And to be honest I actually like ALL the Megathron Hulls, the Navy just being my Favorite due to the cool paint job.

Gilgamesh1980 is FREE!

Last night we got a large fleet together as we believed that we were going to war, in the end it turned out our services were not required but as we still had a large fleet we decided to take out out for a roam. Stuart killed a fail fit Purifier who decided to attack his Harbinger solo in a belt.

We had a fleet of tackle frigates supported by a number of battlecruisers and myself, again in the 'Jammy Bastard' Blackbird. We ran around Minmitar low sec and managed to kill this Drake on a gate. Followed by a Bestower.

We also managed to kill a station gaming Vagabond but unfortunatley the Stabber Fleet Issue and the Megathron docked before we could turn them into space dust.

We lost a Drake of our own who had tackled the Mega, Stabber and Vaga on station and got them to agress, A Rifter who had suicide tackled the Vaga when it had made speed away from the station and a Wolf belonging to the new CEO of The Black Rabbits Academy, Jarek Kalensa. Congratulations on your promotion Jarek, and a big thanks to Hattori Yasunaga, who has gone on to The Black Rabbits proper.

I think we came out on top ISK wise so thats all to the good.

But the main news of the night. Gilgamesh1980 suddenly logged on while we were on a Bio break. This caused something of a stir in Comms as you can imagine and Gilgamesh was bombarded by PM's to see if it was actually it was him, and it WAS!

Gilg has had all his accounts reactivated and the only thing that has been taken away is the Aeon. Apparently the petition was finally elevated past the low GM's and it percolated with Senior GM's and finally went all the way to CCP, who decided that it was a case of 'benefit of the doubt'.

I would like to thank all the people who supported Gilgamesh either through posting on this blog, making there own blog posts and contacting me ingame. Your support was appreciated and I believe it helped a great deal.

CCP finally did the right thing and Kudos to them. I believe the right outcome was achieved and would like to thank CCP for returning a good EvE player to the game.

A Pirate Roam

I have spent a few days running around with Defi4nt and I'm enjoying my time with them. I have made some nice Iskies and would actively promote Defi4nt to anyone looking for a relatively safe haven in 0.0 and a good, active and fun envioment to enjoy it.

That said, anyone looking to live the life of a rum soaked pirate should obviously join The Black Rabbits Academy or The Black Rabbits themselves depending on your SP and experience. We have a new recruitment drive open on the EvE-O forums found here.

So what will you be getting if you join The Guristas Associates? Well lets go through a typical evening with the rabbits.

I logged on last night at around 1730 ET and, after scouting through a friendly hauler, I started a fleet and spammed it in all the channels. I got 4 members of the Academy sign up (the rest watching the World Cup Semi Finals). Two of them flying Punishers, one flying an Enyo and myself flying a ECM 'Jammy Bastard' Blackbird.

We set our course for Amamake and off we went.

A few jumps in and we found a local we have killed before flying his favorite ship, the Jaguar. We know he fits it MWD and Artilery and loves kiting people. He does it well.

We tried to tempt him into a fight but he kept his range nicely so we sort of figured we would leave him to it and go on.

In Dal we were at a spot close to the Amamake gate and saw a Rifter on scan. He wasn't at the gate so we scanned round for a bit and locked him down to a belt.

Fleet warps in and he bugers off. Fair enough.

Astral Dominix (His Blog here) tells the rest of the fleet to piss off and we go back to our little safe spot and align back to the belt. The Rifter pilot comes back in and Astral gets point.

Fleet warps in and I notice that the Rifter is doing over 980m/s and getting away. I shout to our guys to close range and not to lose the kill. The Rifter is Perma Jammed by my 'Epic Blackbird of win (tm)' and I'm loosing Rockets out to it. Astral, using a MWD Punisher gets closer and sits on him till he pops. Pod got away.

Notice please the 400mm plate, the Armor Rig and nothing but the Afterburner II for speed mods. I would love to see that guys Navigation skills to get the Rifter to go that fast.

Anyway we waited out our GCC, a few other guys come in and join us, we now have a Thrasher, Dramiel and a 3rd Punisher and then we headed to Amamake, the local PVP/FW hub, and started scanning around.

After a few minutes I scanned a Stabber down to the sun and we warp in, get point and pop him. He must of been AFK as he didn't move or try and agress back. Looking at his fit he was obviously doing some exploration sites, to bad he didn't get anything nice for us to loot. Once we all had point on the pod I got a new boy, Cithilu to pop the pod and help him on his way to -10.00

With local up to 60+ we decide to head our fleet home, only to find every gate on the way back camped by interceptors, frigates, cruisers and battlecruisers. Not a problem for our newbies who have yet to get to -5.00 but for us reds it was a bit of a problem.

I managed to get most of the fleet home safe, but unfortunatley we lost our Enyo to a sensor boosted interceptor gang. Oh dear.

So, if your looking for fast moving low sec PVP, hit and run tactics, regular fleets and kills then think about dropping into Guristas Recruitment channel when in EvE and hitting someone up for a chat.

I enjoyed getting my Yarr on last night, especially now that I have a good source of income from Hannibal Vexor and Defi4nt.

A Defi4nt Bunny!

First of, don't worry! Mail Lite is still a pirate and still flying under the banner of The Black Rabbits Academy.

Hannibal Vexor however has split from The White Rabbits and joined Domini Umbrus, a member of Defi4nt.

I've been in Defi4nt 3 days now and I have to say, I'm loving it. I've been carebearing it up over the last couple of days, including running The Maze twice and have made some nice Iskies. I also have met some great people who keep inviting me to run amazing plexes with them and hopefully split some great loot.

The best so far was a 3 way split of a Rattlesnake BPC. So to all the guys I have run plexes with so far, Thank you!

I've decided that, due to now being out in 0.0 that a good DPS/Tank ship is called for, so I have started training for a Sentry Drone using Ishtar. These seem to be generaly acknowledged as one of the best PVE ships in the game and it's not a long skill plan to being able to fly it well. It's also sort of on the way to the Archon (Sentry Drones etc) so I'm not losing much time on that goal.

So far I have not been involved in any defence fleets or PVP out here in the north but I am kitted out for PVP if I want to (and I do) so thats definetly on the agenda. Get into a large NC fleet and pew pew.

Mail is currently training for a Sabre, not sure what the use of this ship will be but as it's so close to the Phobos in what is needed I thought 'hey, what the hell.' Plus I am sort of enjoying flying a Thrasher recently as evidenced the kills in Amamake of this Cyclone, the pod and then a Harpy. Unfortunately I then lost the Thrasher and we also lost a Taranis.

I will keep you updated with what happens in Defi4nt, I will also continue to pirate for your general enjoyment.

We have a corp frig duel comming up soon so I will try to get some pics of the gang fighting each other and will announce the winner here, with a full battle report of course ;-)

Though aparently my so called 'friends' in TGA are only joining the tournament so they get, and I quote, 'A chance to pop Mail!'

Alliance leader down!

I'm posting this as a show of support for our Alliance leader Gilgamesh1980 and as a warning for the enitre eve universe.

Has anyone ever bought a ship off contract in Jita or from an unknown source elsewhere? Have you ever bought in to a friends EvE business, fincanced a POS network or just donated someone some in game ISK for a return later down the line?

Do you know that if you do any of these things you could risk losing your account? Permantley banned by CCP?

Well Gilgamesh now knows this.

A few weeks ago Gilgamesh1980 and his other 2 accounts got banned for 14 days for breaking the EULA. When he first started the game he had a RL friend who asked him to put up some hard earned ISK to go towards a POS network in exchange for monthly/quartkey payouts down the line.

He missioned, saved and bought a few GTC's to donate to this friend in return for a stable revenue to help him in his EvE career. So far so good. It lasted a 3 year period.

Then one day a few weeks ago he got a message from GM Nova. His accounts had been banned as his 'friend' had been selling and buying ISK for real money out of game. He had also been selling high end items for real life money.

Gilgamesh knew none of this and when he got banned for the 14 days he asked the GM for a full investigation to clear his name. The outcome? Permanent ban of all characters.

Gilgamesh was in Iceland this last wekk and managed to speak to two GM's, A member of the new CSM Teadaze and also with CCP Navigator. They all recomended him to appeal again and CCP Navigator also asked for a copy of the petition to be sent to him.

Now, Gilgamesh, last night, sent a long email explaining the circumstances in which he finds himself. Gilgamesh works for an IT security company in Ireland and has dedicated himself to protecting peoples identities while online.

Unfortunatley, the person who was scamming, breaking EULA etc, was a RL friend so most conversations took place out of game on a private work email, these can not be shared with CCP due to the confidentiality clauses most companies have these days.

GM Nova answered Gilgs email this morning. He flat out refused to let him appeal. He has also refused to forward the petition on to CCP Navigator or to escalate this matter any further.

Now I'm going to rant a little here about CCP. I don't know what they are thinking. Yes, Gilgamesh1980 financed a character in game which he was led to believe was kosher, he had no idea what was going on, he thought it was a legitimate in game business.

So this leads to a question. If you buy a ship of contract from an unknown source and that person has broken the EULA to gain those assets, through ISK buying whatever, does this mean you have now broken EULA cause you are now part fo this and may finance the unknown player into selling more ISK out of game?

If you buy into a friends POS business and get a return on it over the next few years, could you be breaking EULA because that person decides to buy some ISK out of game? Apparently so.

You know what, I really hope Mynxee reads this. As head of CSM this year does she have the contacts to maybe get someone to look into this case. Someone ABOVE GM Nova, who is refusing to escalate this innocent persons petition?

I know alot of Pirates have blogs. I also know alot of people read my blog through Capsuleer, and there are some really influential people in the blog pack, some who might of even dealt with Gilgamesh in the past. Python Cartel used to be in the Associates. HellCats and Mynxee used to be/are good friends with the Associates even tho we all pew pew together.

This is not right. CCP need to look into this matter further. And I'm not talking about GM's I'm talking about people like Claw, Mindstar, Navigator. People who can look into this matter and come to a fair conlusion.

I leave you with these words.

I bought a pre-rigged ship on contract a couple of weeks ago it cost about as much as the ship would off market but had rigs also.

If that person had have been doing RMT etc and got caught, whats to stop CCP coming back to me and banning my accounts, they've got as much proof there as they have for you that im in on it and can ban me? Seriously...

So this is about changes, and really there hasn't been many. Except I'm no longer a newb! What do i mean by that? Well lets go back to the start and have a look how I began my EvE career.

I inherited Mail Lite, the character from a friend when he quit EvE. He had more powerful accounts and this was just a general 4 mil SP character in a random corp called 'Order of the Dragon' and despite the cool name it was a industrial corp. I started out running level one and two missions in a Rifter for my first month and a half, getting bored and logging after a few hours and not really making alot of cash if I'm honest.

However the CEO of the corp wanted a new director and it seemed I was the most active player, even though I had only been around for a few weeks and had no idea what I was ment to be doing in the corp and how I could get involved, I was made a director with full access to everything. Only problem? I was too newb to take advantage of this. I didn't know what a corp hanger was, what the corp wallet was. Apparently I had access to over 5 billion in assets when i was a director for that corp.

I then read Spectre's blog while at work one day. And when I say read, I mean READ EVERY POST HE EVER MADE IN ONE DAY! And that night I went home, Jumped in a Rifter, fitted to Spectre's Rifter post and made my way to Aurohen. Why Aurohen? Cause thats apparently where Spectre had lived at one time or another.

I jumped in and started practising with the D Scanner and on my very first night I killed a Retriever mining in a belt. Adreniline rush or what! I was hooked.

I had my CEO at the time contact me about the killing of the miner in Aurohen and said it wasn't the sort of thing he wanted in his corp and to keep away from neuts, red were fine but not neutral indutrialists.

I had joined the Hellcats Pub and asked a few times in there if anyone knew a corp where I could learn to pirate. Gilgamesh1980 was in the chat at the time and pointed me to TBRA where I found a great number of friends and eventually become a Personell Manager and then Director. I love the people, love the style of flying, love the ops and love being in the corp and flying the TGA banner.

I was then contacted out of game by the same friend who gave me Mail Lite, Aparently he had been following my progress and was now offering me another account for free. Hannibal Vexor, TKK and Gateway1.

Hannibal Vexor was just shy of 19mil and TKK is a miner and hauler alt at 7 mil. Gateway is a Cyno alt and Trader.

Hannibal is now my 'Main' and runs Level 4 missions, Wormholes and basically anything that will make me some extra cash and help out The White Rabbits. TKK is a Miner and is useful when TWR start mining ops, it means I can contribute in most ways. The Frieghter comes in handy too.

So the main changes in me over my EvE Career? Finding where I belonged, responsibility and having the tools to keep me nicely stable in my PVP endeveaurs.

Ishkur day one.

So Phobos? Not yet.

Myself and a corp mate were chatting about Assault ships, he flys an Ishkur and I have never flown an assault ship myself, though I do have all the needed support skills and Gallente Frigate 5. He linked a nice Ishkur fit in corp and I had a look. Very nice fit, very nice indeed.

Now I have on occasion flown an Incursus, but never really rated it, prefering the Rifter or Merlin for frig gang PVP, and sometimes the Taranis if I feel rich! But something clicked in my head and I went and bought the Assault frigate book,stopped my training for the Phobos and crammed the AS skill to level 4 so that I could fly the Ishkur with at least some confidence.

Once this was done I organised a roam and was delighted to see 9 people from TBRA and a TBR member join up. We had a nice fleet, myself in the Ishkur, Harpy, five Rifters, Punisher and a Caracal.

So we set off. We had the Harpy run inteference one system from the main fleet to try and get into a fight so we could jump in and either ransom (our favorite) or kill something.

A Claw decided to try and take our Harpy, once the point was called we all jumped and headed for our pilot. We all got lock and I loosed one shot off from the Ishkurs Neutrons but was miles out of range and the Claw was running away. The Rifters went after him and new boy Astral Dominix of Astral's Trials by Fire fame got his first final blow and killmail. Good going Astral.

During the fight we had a Rupture and a Wolf land on us. Unfortunatley for us they warped off before anyone could switch point. A bit of a fail there. Next time I will order for someone to get point on atleast one other ship!

So thats one kill for the Ishkur on it's first day out. Not bad huh? Well yes and no... 2 is alwasy better than one.

So still in the system where we caught the Claw, we were waiting on our Harpy pilot to find something he was scanning down one system over when I noticed a Bestower on scan. Hmmm.

Now with the new PI system in place a few people are starting to pop haulers at these new Customs offices that apear around plantes now. Otto got one earlier in the day so I thought I would try my luck and warped in the general direction of where the Bestower was. Nothing there but I thought I would keep trying so I warped to another customes office. Still nothing.

Ok so lets try something else. I warped to the PLANET of the first customs office I checked. And there he was in all his glory.

Industrial at 0 on a planet in low sec. One of a pirates favorite sights! Scrammed and bang. A few of my corpies managed to get in on the kill which is cool but I still got the Killmail and a 2nd kill in my new Ishkur.

I'm liking my new ship! Reminds me of what Kirth said about the Dramial, God Mode.

Last but not leat I would just like to put a shout out to a new friend I made yesterday 343guilty1 who convo'd me to say how much he liked the blog and told me a funny story which I may be posting on here at some point in the future.

I love that so please feel free to contact me if you have any criticism, praise, or just wanna say hello and tell me a funny story. EvE Mail would probably be best as if you contact me while I'm pewpewing I will probably ignore you =P

Hannibal is still in training for the Archon however I forgot to update a clone and lost Recons 5 so am doing that for the next 9 days. I know, I know. A PVP orientated person forgetting to sort out a clone. FAIL!

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with blogging at the moment because everything that The Guristas Alliance are currently undertaking needs to be kept classified. I'm sure you all understand.

So what to talk about? Mail is now less than a week from being able to fly the Phobos. I had to take a small 5 day break from training for it as I decided it was time to get T2 AC's for the Rifter. I used to fly this ship alot in the early days and got my first solo kills in this ship.

I then switched focus to Gallente and never bothered with T2 AC's. Happily that oversight is now rectified and i can field a T2 fitted Rifter for when the occasion arises.

Hannibal has been on a long skill for the last month. Trajectory Analysis 5. Why? Dunno really it was just something that may be useful in the future.

I said at the beginning of the year about getting a legion for Hannibal... Well that is on hold as i train for Amarr Battleship LvL 5. I'm sure you can see where this is going...

Well thats pretty much all I can say... Alot of logistics to sort out for one thing or another so,

Back and Blogging

Hello all,

First of let me appologise for my absence on the blogging scene. A number of things have been happening in RL that has stopped me from blogging.

Now to business. Whats been happening in EvE?

Well first of lets revisit Hannibal Vexor, my high sec brother in arms. You might remember a few months ago I got very excited at being able to fly the Drake Battlecruiser in Lvl 3 missions for CPF. Well I have now traded up and am currently running Lvl 4 missions in an Abaddon.

This marked a milestone for me personally as it was my first character to ever fly a Battleship. And let me tell you... I love it. The immense firepower of the Abbadon, the cap stable tank and the beauty of the ship itself is magnificent. The ISK from the LvL 4 missions will be going to fund a few more pirate ships for Mail.

Moving on to Mail, well first off TBRA is doing well, recruitment is still open and we are getting some new and enthusiastic pilots joining up.

The Alliance has moved and is currently basing out of Jan and we are trying to rebrand our alliance away from 'piracy' and towards a more 'terrorist' movement. What this means? Not totaly clear yet. Stay tuned.

Back in January I made a list of things that I want to achieve for each character. Mail Lite was meant to be heading towards a Megatron and maybe the Phobos. Well Gallente Cruiser 5 is complete, Signiture Analysis 5 is complete and I am now finishing up Propulsion Jamming 5 too. Bring on the expensive shiney of the Phobos Heavy Interdictor!

Hannibal now has most of the support skills needed for the Legion. I just haven't taken the plunge and bought the books yet. It's still on the list but is on the back burner for the moment.

The live events of CCP have been going down all around us in low sec and we have been able to help out the Sansha by terrorising the enemies of the Nation. IT's been fun and has managed to bring some people into Low Sec who wouldn't have been there otheriwse. If CCP could keep this going on some scale it might revitalise Low Sec to some extent and open Piracy up as a career choice for new EvE subscribers.

Other than that it's been business as normal for the last onth or so. Gatecamps, Roams and such. Only 2 operations to mention.

The first was a destroyer roam. Thrashers, Comorants and Catalysts running from Ishomliken and up towards Heydieles with a stop over in Tama. It was good fun, we got a Blackbird kill in Tama but didn't find much else. We even tried to get a fight in Old Man Star but alas noone wanted to play =(

We then suicided our fleet into a 0.5 system and ganked a poor Hulk pilot.

Another op of mention was a RR Osprey op. 3 of us were in high DPS gank cruisers and another was in a Blackbird. The rest of the fleet were in Shield RR Osprey's.

We managed to take out a Harbinger but again, couldn't find mush else. It did however give the newer TBRA members good oportunity to learn how to use RR and the broadcast system.

Both ops were good fun, we just need to get lucky and find some real fights.

I'm now back to blogging and will try to update once a week if not twice.

Ok so where to start? I've been back for a while but this is my first blog post since the awsomeness that is CCP diagnosed my computer with corrupted fonts and explained how to fix them.

First day I was back I took a this Vexor up to Heydeiles to try and stir up some trouble.

After while trouble found me in the form of Adrea Skye of Python Cartel and his Fleet Stabber. Kiting WELL out of my range and me forgetting to group drones meant bye bye Vexor.

Next day I took a group of new academy members up to Heydieles, they were flying an Incursus and a Punisher. Nice to see someone flying something other than a Rifter! Anyway I was flying an anti Frigate fit Thorax fit for gank and not alot of tank. I taught 2 of the newest members of the Academy how to act in fleet and how to react to orders. We missed out on a few kills by warping in at the wrong distances and not managing to grab a point.

We returned home with no kills but with new experiences for our new TBRA members

Once back I stayed in the Thorax and started baiting a Harbinger piloted by Malek99. He wouldn't engage so I just buzzed around him while he sat at 0 on station. When he left, I followed him and we ended up 4 jumps away in Passari where he had a friend undock in a Nid Carrier and both started targeting my Thorax. I of course targetted back but noone engaged.

Shame really as I had a few friends on call ready to cyno into Passari and rip that Nid a new one...

Day 3 was mostly taken up with TKK and playing at carebear mining, trading and general ISK making.

I did log Mail on in time to take part in a fight against a russian blob running through Uuna.

My Thorax, Jareks 'cane and a friendly neutral Otto and his Drake baited in the most obvious belt and in they came. ECM Blackbird, Harbinger, Hurricane, Drake, Stilleto and a second Hurricane against Thorax, 3 x Hurricane, Drake, Drake and a Apocalypse.

Blackbird was called primary and he had to bug out within seconds of landing and then we called a Drake primary.

Half way through the Drake we lost 1 of the Hurricanes but then we also got the Drake. The Russians bugged out and we left it at 1 - 1 with TGA holding the field.

Next day I got a solo kill of a Bestower Indutrial that was afk in Ishomilken ON THE GATE. My Brutix went in, popped the ship and I had to go get my own industrial to haul the loot back. Thanks for that. Please do it more but with better stuff in your hold please.

Apraxas came along about 5 minutes later and popped the guys pod to give him a free ride home. He was still afk.

Later that day was round 2 with the Russians who like to blob. We started with a small gang of battlecruisers just running around Isho hunting for a couple of members of Bloodmoney Cartel. Another local pirate corp we like to play with and have mixed success in killing. We get info that the same russians we engaged a few days before are on their way through Nikkishina so I contact SGB Dose of Bloodmoney and ask if they would like to take out some russians.

They drop their fleet and join ours to take the fight to the blobby russians. A couple of our members decide to jump into battleships, an Apoc and a Tempest. We now number 2 Frigates, Cruiser, 5 Battlecruisers and 2 battleships. The Russians are fielding an Interceptor, Blackbird a couple of Drakes, A Harbinger and a Hurricane.

One of their Drakes is on the Nikki gate so we jump in and engage and the rest of thier fleet jump in. They primary our Apoc while we primary thier ECM and make it warp out. Drones = problems for Blackbirds.

Our Apoc pilot is going down fast and the Harbinger is kiting our attack so we switch primary to a Hurricane. It melts and they again bug out. This time we our 0-1 and we hold the field. Thats 2 engagements, each time we have held the field and we are one kill up. Looking forward to the next round!

Hi all,

As you can probably get from the title my EvE is back working and CCP were the ones who diagnosed the problem.

I had issues with missing and/or corrupted fonts so I got a friend to copy his fonts onto a USB pen drive and bring it over. I then copied the info over to my computer, replaced the bad bits with correct and bish bash bosh EvE is back!

Thanks to everyone who tried to help, both bloggers and alliance friends and I'm looking forward to getting back into EvE.

Any MMO better than no MMO?

Hmmm well it looks like my sabbatical from EvE will carry on at the moment. I have tried numerous things to try and get my client to work again so I can get back into EvE and go get some pew-pew action. However everything I have tried has made no difference at all and I am out of ideas. I have 3 options left.

1. Buy a new computer – not going to happen, with my other half cooking our first spending out on a computer would be met with the mother of all arguments and that’s not a good idea.

2. My friend who built this computer for me a few months ago is coming round to take a look at some point. He plays/played EvE so understands how it feels to have issues and I’m hoping he will be around soon to sort this out for me. He has some RL issues though so I am not sure when this will be happening.

3. Last and least, CCP. I petitioned the problem after a friend from my alliance and I exhausted everything we could think of. I wrote them a lovely little thing including everything I had tried and they promptly replied with something I had just told them I had already done.

I told them I had done that then they spoke about just restarting the computer… It had been 3 days ofcourse I had restarted the computer and tried reinstalling. Then they told me to run the repair tool. Done that one too… Then they asked for the dxdiag from the computer to try and help further. Will they come through? I hope so!

In the mean time I am at a loss to what to do. I had a 4 day weekend and no EvE. Spent a lot of the time with the other half and that was nice. But what to do computer wise? Well I started by playing through the MW2 campaign again, bored of that so mover onto Dragon Age Origins. Great game but no interaction with other players so got bored.

Sims 3? Ugh, it’s the other halves but I gave it a shot for about 30 minutes and got VERY bored. I have more games but nothing jumped out at me. I’m thinking of getting Supreme Commander 2 and Dawn of War II but that involves money.

One very scary thing though is that throughout my forced EvE break I have started the WoW client (that I have downloaded for a friend to play when I’m not home) a few times. I never log in or anything as I come to my senses but, well, is any MMO better than no MMO?

Back to no EvE...

Hmmm well one day of EvE went well. Killed a Thorax and lost the Vexor to a couple of frigates. All was going so well!

So yesterday I took my hauler alt over to Jita to get me fittings for a shield tanked gank Thorax, another neut Vexor set up and a couple of frigate setups. *I already had the hulls*

So there I was, on my way back to Ishomilken and the power goes for 30 seconds. When it returns I turned the computer back on and wonder off for a few minutes while the other half checks her Facebook and such.

I try to log into EvE about an hour later and it goes to the Dominion Splash screen.

Then Black

Then crashes to Desktop with the generic Windows error message. 'CCP Exefile has stopped working, Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...' (Off topic but has anyone actually seen this find a solution for ANYTHING?)

Ok, so how to sort it. First off I restarted the computer to see if that would help. No go.

Uninstall and reinstall next. Nothing.

Clear the Cache and Settings from the User>AppData>CCP folder. Done and no help

Cleared my logs and stuff from My Documents>EvE. Zilch and no go.

EvE Repair tool run and no issues found.

Petition to CCP is in, their first reply was to try something I had already told them I had done. (Clear Cache and Settings) So far no other suggestins from CCP.

I am now opening this up to you guys in the hope there are some computer people out there who can suggest a cure for this!

End of Sabatical - First loss

Morning all,

So ok last night was a learning curve. I managed to get my solo kill in the new Vexor I am playing with but I also managed to lose that same Vexor about an hour later.

I was still in Hydeliels and was scanning around again looking for something to get my Yarr' on! I found a Rifter in a belt aparently alone but with a number of other ships on 360 degree scan. I decided to chance it. The ship was fully insured and I needed and acid test on this ship.

I went to the belt, me and the Rifter pilot, Aurical Cryso, closed and started orbiting each other. Both with Warp Scrams running, I let loose a flight of Hammerhead II's and started my Neutrilizers and NOS. The Rifter slows and starts taking damage and an Incursus joins the fight. I focus on the Rifter, being the most dangerous and not notice two facts.

1. Both Frigates were popping my Drones
2. I had run out of cap charge 800's.

I got given a schooling in being prepared and taking more notice of my drones, rather than just letting them go and forgetting about them. I should also remember the fact that this fitting NEEDS cap boosters to survive.

So there I was, no Hammerheads, a set of unuseable Warrior II's in my drone bay (No idea why) and a flight of ECM small drones.

The Rifter has warped off as I had managed to get him into structure so i set the ECM drones on the Incursus to try and get the jam so I can warp out.

No Dice. Rifter warps in and they carry on slowley eroding the armour and structure on the Vexor until it goes pop.

Good fight boys, good fight and I will be around Heyd and OMS more in future!

I have another Vexor in the hanger ready to go. I am going to take Hobgoblin II's and Hammerhead II's instead of the Warriors until I have that skill up to around 3-4.

Going off now, great night and some great lessons learned for next time. Hoping for a rematch!

End of Sabatical - First kill

Evening all!

So a good first few hours. Jumped into my new support fit Vexor Gallente Cruiser and decided to go looking for a solo fight to see if it could hold it's own.

Making my way out of Ishomilken I headed up towards one of the most dangerous, and fun, systems in all of EvE and one where I knew I would atleast get a fight when I got there, if not on the way!

Had a few hits on the way down to Old Man Star but nothing that I could pinpoint outside of a POS so I carried on my way down.

One jump out is a system called Heydieles. A good place for a fight. Scan was showing 16 people in local. A few bigger ships on scan that I would have to try and avoid and a few smaller faster ships I would love to get a tackle on.

I decided to make it easy. Picked a random belt 40+ AU from the Abune Gate and off scan from most areas and initiated warp. I kept spamming the scan button on the D Scanner to see what was around and found there was a Thorax in the same system as myself. I tried to locate him to 180 degrees just to see where he could be. I was still in warp and hit scan in the direction of the astroid belt I was heading for and realised he was either in the belt or in a safe very close.

Upon landing the Thorax was less than 10km from me so I targeted it and activated the warp scrambler. I closed on his ship, remembering to activate my Damage Control II (for once) and got nice and close. I jettisoned my 5 Hammerhead II drones and activated 4 Medium Neutralisers and a Medium NOS to suck the Thorak dry of cap and basicaly end any active tank he may have.

My drones made short work of his armour and hull and soon he was in his pod. Have to admit that he was quick to get the pod away so I don't have my first pod kill yet but I will continue to work on it!

No Idea if I spelt that correctly but never mind.

A quick apology for my absence. Due to a number of factors I have not been on EvE more than just to change a few skills.

However the horizon looks clear, my fingers are itching and I have a 4 day weekend starting at 3pm this afternoon!

TGA have an operation starting Sunday which will see us move to another region of space ripe for the picking and I'm looking forward to getting into my Brutix, making some ISK and leading a few roams over the next few days.

I have fitted up a support Vexor which has 4 medium neuts and a NOS, Cap Booster (Serious need) and lots of droney goodness. I'm hoping to get some fun kills with that over the next few days and weeks.

Nothing else to report really. Just need to get out and pop some pods and loot some hulls to get back in the swing of things.

Hannibal is T2 heavy missile able and Mail can now pilot a Nemesis and Helios. Need to get the scanning skills next but taking a small break to grab T2 assault missiles for the Caracal before going back to Scanning lessons.

So fly dangerous and expect ALOT more posting over the next few days!

No real EvE time...

I have to admit that over this weekend I really wanted to get out, get some kills and make some ISK either doing plexes with both Hannibal and Mail or just general belt ratting.

Unfortunately RL.exe decided to knock in the form of doing favours for friends. This included waiting at a friends place (with no internet access) for a Sky T.V engineer to arrive for most of Sunday, going shopping with a mate who wanted to buy a new motorbike and then having to focus on doing my own house work and shopping!

Needless to say that EvE was a no-no for me this weekend. The few hours I did manage to grab was mostly getting Mail Lite out of 0.0 and back to Ishomilken and then messing around in a newly fit Vexor Gallente Cruiser.

We have had to postpone moving the alliance out to FD for a few weeks so I already have a new op in planning for the academy to keep their skills nice and sharp. Watch this space.

Hannibal is staying out in 0.0 for the moment to see if ratting in 0.0 will bring some rewards. I will admit the first couple of times I have tried doing some solo ratting in the Nemesis I have had to turn tail and run from the frigate rats in the belt! How does one counter this? Should I grab a cruiser, blow them to smithereens and then go get the Nemesis for the bigger targets that I can outrun? I need some help here!

Tonight I will have to grab at least an hour to help run some logistics for the alliance but I have a feeling that my other half will want some of my game time!

Luckily, at the moment, my other half is going away this weekend to her parents (Sat – Mon) so this weekend should see some great EvE time!

I’m hoping to get online for a few hours Wednesday and get a fleet together. I have invited Astral Dominix to come join a TBRA frigate fleet as he has expressed an interest in PVP. We will have to see if we can find some reds for him to shoot at as he doesn’t want to take a sec hit! (Looks at Mails’ -10 and smiles) He will have to watch from the sidelines if we find some nice mission runners or ratters to go splat!

Mail has finally finished Energy Upgrades level 5 and is now working on Cloaking level 4. He should then be ready for his own Nemesis!

Hannibal is only a few days from T2 Heavy missiles which should make the missioning go a bit quicker. Next for Hannibal will either be maxing some other shield skills to make the Drake even more formidable or thinking about starting the training for the Raven Battleship. Either way… it’s going to take a while.

I haven’t forgotten about the list of goals I had for each character. I am still going for the T3 cruiser on Hannibal but with the new found interest in Caldari ships I am tempted by the Tengu but think I will fold and run back to the Proteus when it actually comes to deciding which one to train for in earnest.

Mail's training for T2 large blasters starts as soon as the Nemesis training has been completed. It will take a while but I won't set foot on the Megathron till I have T2 blasters ready to go.

Jumping on the band wagon yet again.

Ok so an interview was done at ten ton hammer about the new Tyrannis expansion coming out in the summer of 2010. I just wanted to give my very grief thoughts on this.

Planets that are in empire will be so east to get to will be very much over industralised by the empire carebears.

Null Sec planets will be taken over by the large alliances and thier pets in alot of cases as far as i can see.

WH planets will be taken over by the people who live in each. Unoccupied WH's are quite rare these days and if you want a planet in one of these I would say you will have to fight for it every time you want to bring produce out to sell in K-Space.

The most interesting bit of this from my, and anyone living an outlaw existence in Low-Sec will be the planets of our so-called home systems and regular hunting grounds.

I hope, pray and dance naked around my comuter chanting, that they buff the planets in Low-Sec so that they have a distinct advantage over empire planets, unlike the rats they put in low-sec which aren't worth a bucket of spit.

Low-sec is a dead area, fact, the only people you find out there are other pirates or lost newbies. I have no issues with this but a new influx of meat, coming to play with thier planets and export thier goods out will make things alot more interesting.

In other news, Hannibal took his Nemesis out with the wrong torpedoes and nearly got popped by a Battleship rat =/ Now I have the right torps I am planning another field test this evening, as soon as a station camping git in a Drake fucks off. (Sitting in undock, you bump of him as you undock and keep bumping when you try to warp. Fail for me but legitimate game play for him..,)
Anyway, dinner is burning.

Right ok this has nothing to do with EvE but is going out to the nice people out there that might be able to help me with a serious issue regarding my blog.

If you are reading this via Capsuleer or Googlereader RSS you may not notice it but anyone who is coming to my URL are being transported to another website as soon as they land on my blog. (http://deplayer.net/ptp.html)

The website they go to is blank but seems to play music in the background. I have no idea how to stop this happening, or even if it is just me! (I tried it on both a WE and Firefox and it continued to happen)

Does anyone know how I could get rid of this without changing URL? Or will changing URL even work?! Is there a piece of code I should get rid of in HTML?

Hope someone can help.

Hannibal is useful

In my last EvE related post I said I had Mail training for the Nemesis and I was about a week away from being able to fly some cloaky cloaky goodness. I then logged on to Hannibal and realised I was sitting in a Helios and that Hannibal could ALREADY fly a Nemesis if I wanted to buy one for him.

So guess what, I have a lovely little Nemesis stealth bomber sitting in FD pretty much fully fitted at a reasonable cost. Hannibal already has some lovely missile skills for the Drake so that’s not a worry. I only need to get the Torpedo and Bomb Deployment skill books and I can go cause some mayhem in 0.0.

Mail will continue training for the SB as well and will also get a Nemesis on station in FD sometime next week.

My list of ships now available for flight in 0.0 is a Brutix, Caracal and Merlin for Mail Lite and a Nemesis, Helios and Drake for Hannibal. This gives me some nice options for roaming and I should be able to field a ship for whatever fleet is called for.

I took Hannibal’s Helios out for a spin last night to check my scanning skills were still at an acceptable level. Got a couple of nice Screen shots from the plexes I scanned down:

So tonight I am out, having dinner at friends, but I’m going to try and get 30 minutes of EvE before we go so I can get those skills into Hannibals head. By Friday evening I should be able to take my Nemesis ‘TARP!’ out for a spin.

5 Frigs Versus... HOW MANY?!

Well I promised you I would go out and try and stir up some trouble and that’s exactly what I tried to do last night.

Getting online and straight into my Merlin I put out a request for a wolf pack, anything frigate sized that wanted to come play was welcome.

Unfortunatly from my point of view many people had returned to our low sec base due to ship requirements and such and only a limited number were still available in FD-MLJ.

Deciding to go it alone I sped to the nearest stargate and just kept warping around, exploring this strange new place and seeing if I could get into a fight. I set up safes, checked random belts for rat types. I went about 20 jumps without seeing a soul. And when I did they were either in POS’s or docked in station. What a waste of time.

I got the call from one of my alliance mates saying he was going to put up a drag bubble between the FD and X-M gate to see what he could catch, We managed to get a 5 man fleet up for this. My Merlin, Navy Comet, Vigil (Epic Fail), Punisher and an Ishkur, not the best fleet in TGA memory but anything was better than nothing at this point.

We missed a Crusader who was dragged into the bubble, and that was my mistake. I was targeting the Vigil at the time and activated my Scram and Web on him rather than the enemy interceptor. I fail, thank you very much.

We played a little peek-a-boo with a Celestis who kept warping around from annoying 400km safe spot to annoying 400km safe spot. Every time we even got close (Within 100km) he would warp of and warp back at yet another safe.

I tried to engage a fellow Merlin pilot on the PF gate but he jumped as soon as I engaged. He then came back with a second Merlin friend and tried to bait me again. Reports had come in by this time of a large fleet holding on the other side of the gate ‘IT’S A TARP!’ was all that was heard on TS once we had that info. (No I didn’t misspell Trap. It’s a TGA joke)

So back to the bubble, waiting for a bit of action, then a Gate activation. Vagabond is now burning towards us and locking me up. I get a web and scram on him and we pile on the beastly T2 cruiser, and then come the local spike. From 8 people in local it climbs all the way to 36 in a matter of seconds and they all burn to our little gang of 5 frigates. A lovely large blob of T2 Cruisers, Destroyers and even a beautiful T3 Loki, The funniest bit was after I lost my Merlin I warped of and heard Adeleo say ‘I’m scrambled by the Loki!’ I almost fell of my chair in laughter. We had a small laugh in local with the blobbers and retired to the station.

I will be fitting up another ship shortly for going on roams. I’m thinking of grabbing a bubble, a Nemesis and trying my hand at a solo camp for the giggles, not sure if it will work but worth a try. I am also hoping to get my Caracal delivered shortly. Along with Hannibals’ Drake and Helios so that I can go rat some of the really empty systems I found last night. A bit of ratting and plexing would help my wallet no end and might even raise my standings with Gallente a bit (Hannibal is a -4.71 with the Federation at the moment which makes things a bit worrying!)

Anyway I am looking to go out again tonight and tomorrow and see what I can do. It’s only a week until I can field that Nemesis for the solo gate camp idea.

On quick amendment, I am looking to get Hannibal into a Wormhole at some point to help with my ISK flow. I’m going for a T3 Strategic cruiser shortly and want to put it to good use. If anyone knows a WH corp looking for a capable pilot with PVP experience and also PVE experience give me a shout on either Hannibal Vexor or Mail Lite in game. Class 3 would be ideal.

GOONIES! Oh and Null Sec stuff

Ok so Null Sec.

Never been here before, still getting used to warping from safe spots to gates rather than just straight to gate like you would in low sec and still getting used to feeling amazingly vulnerable in a frigate every time I jump through a gate! I need to kill me a few Sabre’s to feel better I think.

In my normal stomping grounds a Frigate is basically a free passage to anywhere you want to go. No one is going to get a lock on you before you can warp off. And if they do get a lock on you… well it’s because you FAIL! Null sec, not so much!

Didn’t get much play time last night as the other half wanted a night together (Misses + Happy = More EvE Time) but the little bit I did get was very interesting. I was docked in the station TGA was calling home and looking at my available ships, a Reaper and a Brutix. Not exactly an arsenal of destruction, so I decided I needed a frigate, something small and nippy that I can mess around with.

I searched the market and found a 0.0 trade hub 3 jumps down the pipe. Taking my Reaper I thought, fuck it, lets give this a go.

Nothing, not a soul until I got to my destination and even once I got there no one was on gate. 50 in local and none on gate! My lucky day!

I went over to the station, hitting scan as I go and realise I am about to land in the middle of a war. GOONS!

I had inadvertently just warped into the Goonwaffe taking a system in Syndicate! I had heard about Goons, written about Goons and laughed about Goons, but never actually met Goons.

Luckily they seemed focused on there task and completely ignored my little rookie frigate, probably more interested in the Aeon Super Capital they were guarding.

Docked and safe for the moment I bought a Merlin and the fittings, all readily available in the same station and for a reasonable price! Score!

I undocked, with still 30 odd in local, all Goons. Warped to the gate from station, luckily no bubbles and no one on gate yet again then went to the next gate. Then I had a heart attack, caught on a bubble with a Claw interceptor 6000m off me, not the best position to be in with a brand new Merlin. Luckily I think I caught the guy napping and managed to warp away before he got a lock on me.

In hindsight I could maybe have taken him. He wouldn’t be particularly well tanked, and I was sporting a web and scram along with a Medium Shield Extender II and tank rigs. But hey, hindsight is a beautiful thing.

I made it back to FD-MLJ and docked up for the night and when I get home this evening, I am planning on going out into the big bad beyond and trying to stir up some trouble.

Very late to the game!

Ok so I am probably the last to do this but I thought i would upload pictures of my EvE space just like the rest of the gang.

First off this is how my 'Pod' used to look. This was taken when my other half was a way for the night at her parents.

Shortly after this was taken this laptop went 'poof' so I was forced (Really?) to buy a gaming PC. I looked all around until a friend heard what I was after and built me my current PC for £300 it is Quad Core 500gb Hardrive and 4gb Ram,

Here is what I did with that...Pic might be a bit poor but it's a Dell 19" LCD monitor, Wireless (Cheap) keyboard and a mouse from Maplins. The controller just stopped working so is only there for show. It is soon to be replaced with a Xbox360 controller.

Yes, I am on BT.

Yes I smoke Amber Leaf, drink rum, drink coke and drink cider.

Yes that ashtray has a pirate theme to it. A flag over the monitor on the wall is to come. (YARR)

Ok so, first things first.

CK has added me to his esteemed blog pack! Unbelievable really as I have only been blogging for just over 2 months! A big thank you to CK for the opportunity and I will not let you down sir!

A quick congrats out to the other new and returning CK blog packers, especially the Python, Hellfleet, and Tusker bloggers out there who insired me to first become a low-sec pirate, and now to blog about it! (To Pythons: PENISSSS!)

Also congrats to Astral, I'm a follower and regular commenter to his blog and it's nice to see him in the blog pack too!

Now i've stroked some ego's and made me sound like a fanboi (I am) on to other news.

Mail Lite is still undecided on where to go after finishing Medium Blasters T2 but is filling time by training for a stealth bomber. Only a few day away now!

Having a stealth bomber will be a big BIG plus in the next few months as alot of TGA have gone on a little holiday over to 0.0! (Or should that be o.0)

Never been in null sec before and have so far lost a shuttle, 3 reapers and 4 pods. And i only got there sunday morning. I hate Sabre's!

It was a general cause for giggles on voice chat yesterday though, me laughing everytime I got podded, laughing when my corp mates got podded trying to get back to their other ships.

Scouting through what looked like an unoccupied gate, only to linger a bit to long and not notice the 10 stealthbombers uncloaking 50km from me.

Basically it was hilarious and I have loved every minute of it so far. It will be even nicer when i get a few Merlins, Rifters and Caracals in to go pew pew with immunity!

Hannibal is also coming along. He has his Helios and his Drake so will be ratting like a bitch for the next few weeks. ISK ISK ISK.

And I wouldn't be suprised if he got in on a little PVP action either.

TKK is still around and is currently mining when the occasion arises. I've never been big on the mining side so I normally only go out with the Coverter (Or borrowed Hulk) when TWR has a mining op planned (Every sunday from 12:45 ish ET)

What else? Hmm not alot really. Been involved in a few vannila kills but nothing solo recently. Lost a Caracal to a Rupture who has a bitch of a tank but thats about it.

I will endeavour to keep you updated about the op in null and how many little fuckers in sabre's we can kill. A couple of TGA carriers were jumped through last night so at least we will have some ships to go shoot shit now! Malacii Lee's Sabre is mine!

Grand Theft Orca

Nothing really interesting has been happening to any of my characters over the last few days, a bit of missioning on Hannibal who has just broke into the level 4 missions, Mail being on standby for fleets and roams etc.

So nothing really to report at the moment, but a great story came to me via one of my corp mates while TKK and the White Rabbits were on a mining op.

For confidentiality reasons the names have been changed.

Jacob used to own an Orca, it got blown up on a low sec mining op with the White Rabbits and he hadn’t bothered to replace it, until now anyway.

Well, Jacob is flying around high sec space in a frigate, just moving from system to system on his way to a local trade hub to pick some stuff up for the corp. As is normal with pirates or alts of pirates after jumping into a system you automatically hit the scan button on your directional scanner, lo and behold an Orca and Hulk show up on scan. This would not normally spike any interest but Jacob checks local, only 2 other pilots apart from him and one of them is a brand new 2010 player. There are no stations in this system so Jacob starts scanning the nearest belts to the gate. The Orca and Hulk are both in the same belt so he warps in to have a look.

The pilot of both ships is mining in the Hulk with the Orca next to him. Jacob lands 3000m from the unpiloted 700million ISK ship and immediately leaves the frigate and jumps into the guys Orca.

The pilot of the ships now makes an even stupider mistake and ejects from his Hulk in an attempt to get his Orca back. Jacob then pulls the Hulk and for giggles, his Frigate, into the Orca’s bay, waves in locals and warps off to the gate and continues on his way to his destination.

Lets list the Orca/Hulk pilots mistakes shall we?
1. Ejecting from a 700mil ship
2. Ejecting from a 700mil ship ON THE WARP IN TO THE BELT!
3. Not keeping a closer eye on local
4. Not having ‘ships only’ on his overview. He might have been able to save the Orca
5. After Jacob had already boarded the Orca, ejecting from the Hulk in ‘Take me’ range of a now hostile ship.

Lets tot up how much Jacob made in 5 minutes of work:
Orca – 700 million ISK
Hulk – 180 million ISK
Orca fittings – 50 million ISK
Hulk Fittings – 40 Millions ISK
Ore in hold – 2 Million ISK
Grand Total – 972 Million ISK

Just because The White Rabbits have positive sec status, they still have piratical tendencies, as this shows nicely.

In other news, Involuntary Confinement (5150) moved into our home base just over a week ago and started playing docking games and fitting smart bombs to Battleships to pop any smaller TGA craft leaving station.

5150 used to be part of TGA but in 2008 Gilgamesh1980, our CEO, expelled them from the alliance due to differences in opinions and the CEO of 5150 vowed they would be back to destroy our Alliance.

They had Carriers and Battleships, we had more Carriers and Battleships. We engaged them; they docked and would never come off station and into a proper fight.

We carried on as normal, roams, camps etc. They dropped an allied corp on us, with 7 Dreads, We counter dropped one of our friendly null sec alliances on them, 5 dreads, 6 carriers and a Nyx. They ran and have now moved out from TGA space again. Come back when you have the stones to engage off station and have bigger friends.

Another large op has been arranged and again, can’t say to much about it accept I am really looking forward to it, and once it’s in motion I should be able to post about it!

Oh and I am still trying to sort out some screen shots and such to go with my blog posts. I realise they are a bit text heavy!

Caracals and T2 Blasters

So T2 Medium Blasters are done!

Took a while and I had a few breaks to quickly throw some other stuff in there too, but yesterday, it finally happened, I fitted T2 Medium Blasters to my Brutix, but haven’t tried them out yet as I didn’t get a lot of play time last night! Sucks!

Now I have the T2 guns for the BC and can fit the rest of the ship to T2 standards already, I feel my skills in that size hulls are now at an acceptable level. I can now field a nice, hard hitting; fleet fit Brutix with all the nice trimmings.

However this has now caused me an issue. What do I go for next? I am currently having great fun in flying (and losing) a lot of anti frigate Caracals and plan to do a lot more work with this ship. Maybe I should quickly concentrate on upping my Caldari Cruiser and Missile skills? Caldari Cruiser to level 4 and T2 Assault missiles with level 4 missile support skills all round? That’s a few weeks so maybe…

Or should I do something I have been looking into for the last few months? And start going for the Megathron? T2 fitted including the Blasters? That’s a good few months training and I have already loved the look of the ship, and it would be nice to be able to field a Battleship when the need arises.

Going back to the Caracal I have had one kill in the Caracal so far, a Taranis pilot trailed me around some of the belts in Mara, I warped to a nice, obvious planet at 0 and waited. He landed at 20km and started burning towards my poor little cruiser! Oh noes!

Oh wait, scrambled, double webbed and 5 assault missile launchers tearing holes in the T2 frigates hull. Bye Bye Taranis!

Feeling cocky I went into Dantumi and found a Jaguar pilot and a Rifter pilot running around, perfect fun! I tried to get the Rifter to engage but hey ignored me so I warped to a planet, on top of the Jag. I double webbed, scrammed and let loose on assault missiles. His tank was awesome, mine was screwed! He popped my Caracal and I warped away before he could take my pod.

I chatted to the guy after and he was shield tanking the Jaguar, very nice, and I had made a stupid mistake! TURN YOUR DAMAGE CONTROL ON!

Bugger, but it was a great fight and I enjoyed every second.

Couple of days later and back in a Caracal I went up to Tama and was picking a fight when a Rapier appeared next to me. Uh oh, the Caracal is a great ship but Rapiers are deadly little fuckers. And when he was joined by his corp mate in a Slepnir I knew I was toast!

Good fight to those boys of Blood Money Inc though.

In other news, Hannibal is currently playing support for Mail Lite and TGA on an operation of undisclosed nature. My other characters are spread around home systems doing some ISK making duties.

At this moment a number of other great things are happening in and around The Guristas Alliance but for the moment, for operational security, none of these things can be reported yet, however a number of blog posts have been written and once the operation is over and I am given the green light, I will post about these exploits.

POS bashing and Ransoms

Ok so what have I been doing on EvE the last few days?

Well Mail Lite got a delivery over the weekend of a Merlin and Caracal and is currently finishing of the training to use T2 Shield extenders. After I have played with the fittings and seen the boats in action I will post the fits and kills that these ships have. I am planning to turn the Caracal into the ultimate anti-frigate platform using lots of assault missile launchers. The Merlin will have T2 hybrid blasters and T2 rocket launchers and a large shield buffer tank and will wipe the smile off any cocky Rifter pilot. Hopefully…

Mail also took his Drake out for its first action, a POS bash.

Someone (stupidly) decided to put up a POS in the home system of the Guristas Alliance on Saturday evening, needless to say our Sunday was made of big ships, missiles, dreads, carriers and anything that could hit more than 30km. The POS was well set up (in my newbie opinion);

Unfortunatly for the owner of the above POS he forgot to actuallt configure the defence systems so the actually FIRED. We were all sitting around in BC’s, BS’s and even a number of Stealth bombers and not one of us got attacked by the POS weapon systems!

Fail…

Anyway with a few Dreads in fleet we primaried his tower, anyone not able to hit the tower from 30km was tasked on taking out an number of modules that were at closer range and outside his POS shield.

The owner turned up in a Blockade runner about halfway through the towers shield and proceeded to set up a number of extra harderners to counter our efforts. We asked him nicely to offline his harderners so we could do this quicker, he politely declined.

So we started a bit of a dialogue with him and came to an arrangement. Pay us 900 million ISK and we will give you 24 hours to remove your POS. Can’t say fairer than that can we? After a bit of a delay (Where we really thought we were about to get hot dropped) he paid our FC the agreed ransom. He has till 1900 EvE time tonight to remove his POS. Can’t wait to get home and see if he has sorted it yet.

Hannibal got a bit of action yesterday too. TWR managed to get a very large mining fleet up and we were happily messing around when a Wolf turned up and flipped 0.13 million of Veldspar. I went to fetch Hannibals’ Drake and re flipped the can. A Incursus of the same corp turned up and scouted me out, then a friend turned up, in his Typhoon Battleship, I could see this going wrong very quickly.

The Incursus warped off and the BS engaged, he had neuts, my Damage Control went down and I was capped out through the entire fight. I survived long enough to get the Typhoon into half armor; I then noticed his friend had returned… In a Proteus T3 Cruiser.

Pop went my Drake and my Pod warped off. I did offer to pay a ransom in Local but was ignored, strange but true. It was a fun fight and I found that my little Drake could punch hard, take a lot of damage and I really did have a great time. (Especially when a friend decided to give me a new Drake free of charge)

In other news, the winners of CK’s blog banter contest are in. I was not one of the winners and offer my congratulations to those who were! Great entries and I loved reading every single one.

I now have my very own loss mail on Gateway1 who was popped by a dread! This is the first Kill mail I have featuring a cap ship and will cherish it always (Thanks Dame =p)

Over the next week it will be business as normal, roams, camps and silly shit and I will keep you all updated as it goes on. However from Saturday, The Guristas Alliance has been called to arms, including TWR.

I am hoping for many, many good stories and intrigue.

Carrier killed by TBRA and Python Cartel

Hmmm, ok so real life has bit me in the butt for the last few days; I have had a lot of little, but time consuming things to do on EvE, in regard to the alliance so have not done any pew pew for a few days. I am hoping to rectify this over the weekend.

However I feel I must post this kill of a Carrier that members of The Black Rabbits Academy were involved in yesterday.

I read the TGA battle report and feel the best way to do it justice is to just copy and paste it out of the official forums.

‘A lone drake sits upon a belt happily ratting with the aid of 5 fighter drones....presumably doing very well shooting belt rats with insane overkill DPS.

"Silence on the comms! There's a drake sitting on a belt. With fighters. There's a carrier in here somewhere so we need to be careful. Hopefully we can ninja the drake, at any rate."

"Just so you all know, primary is the drake, and the fighters are secondary, just to make somebody suffer."

Little did we know...our young, capital ship cherries would soon be popped.

"Drake in low shield...." "Chimera on scan!"

Victor's voice cuts clear through the communications. "Decide now. carrier, yay or nay."

"With an overwhelming chorus of "YAY!," we initiate point.

A mere 4 battlecruisers, one blackbird, and an onyx against 12 million cubic meters of solid tritanium alloy.I'll admit, I still didn't believe it possible. Surely a support fleet was on it's way to destroy us in cruel retribution for such a bold attack. Surely....local stayed clear.

Just maybe.....just maybe.

ll of a sudden, Empyric very happily reports "Python Cartel is on it's way!!!!"

Maybe....10 seconds later all sorts of fancy faction ships appear and my screen fills with red...But yet, for now they were green.

How poetic

At this point the Chimera more or less melted like butter on a very hot pan. In fact, more like hot butter being thrown from said hot pan into a fire just next to the stove.

The poor pilot was helplessly webbed and scrammed by so many gunboats. Hot lead and hot lasers poured into his shields and soon punched hole after hole into the armor of the mighty beast.

The chimera at last buckled, and split with a blinding explosion and many penises and yarrs in local.

His pod gone faster than the eye could track. (I got the corpse)

The Black Rabbits Academy departed the scene with many thanks and congratulations in local from the Python Cartel, and we congratulated their quick response.

Someone mentioned something about fraps, and there will be blogs. Oh there will be blogs.’

I feel dirty...

Hi all,

Just wanted to share with you my absoloute disgust in myself.

I decided about a week ago that I would get Hannibal, my PVE mission runner out of his Harby and into a Drake, I had a fit from a collegue and trained up specificly for that fit. I had heard that Drakes can easily do level 3 missions and even some of the level 4's with good skills.

So i thought I would give it a go.

I finally got round to flying the Drake yesterday, a level 3 mission for Corporate Police Force in Oipo. And, this is why I feel dirty, I loved it!

Yes I have very basic skills for the ship, yes my missile skills suck and yes I have trained the bare minimum for the fittings... But I STILL kicked a hard level 3 mission in the nuts!

I even forgot to bring my drones for the Frigs, no worries, missiles will work, and they did!

Problem is I am now even more determined to get Mail Lite into a PVP H.A.M Drake!

Missiles? FTW! (Though I still love my Brutix =D)

Still a great day to be a Pirate, but maybe expensive?

Ok so from a day of great victories to a Monday evening of losses. And you know what? I loved every second of it!

When I logged in to EvE last night I wasn’t planning on playing much. I was just going to do some admin stuff, mess around with Hannibal’s new mission Drake and see if it can do the mission that my Harbinger found a bit difficult.

However logging onto Mail Lite I found a fleet was running 5 jumps out of home, the same system where we had the fun yesterday, Ikoskio. I joined fleet, jumped in my Brutix and made my way to join them.

Jumping through one of the gates I found an Onyx HIC sitting on the gate. He was red, like me, and I knew as soon as I uncloaked he would engage me. I advised the fleet of my intentions and broke cloak and started burning back to the gate. He locked and engaged me and I locked back. A friendly Arazu jumped in from the other end of the system and I tanked the Onyx for a few moments, and then jumped out of the system.

Looking back in hindsight I should of engaged that Onyx. I was in a Brutix and with the Arazu as support I could probably have popped his HIC quite easily but my discretion played a part and I made the decision not to.

The fleet had arrived on the other side of the Mushikegi gate and were holding there. The Arazu jumped out to join them and I jumped back to Manjonako with the Onyx to try and get him to engage again. Unfortunatly the HIC pilot had his own scouts and knew my fleet was waiting. We had a bit of a chat in local, where he admitted he was surprised I had not engaged as he was sure I could have taken him, especially with the help from the Arazu.

At that moment the fleet jumped through to me and we made our way back to home base and sent some scouts to a notorious system a few jumps down a different pipe, known well for it’s Russian bait blob fests, Mara. Our fleet reported back a mixture of Battlecruisers, a few Battleships and 5 unaccounted for, which normally means ECM support. While idling on the Nikkishina gate in our home system a red Rupture jumped in and, while we got points and DPS on him he managed to jump through and get away before we could finish him off. We got him to structure but missed on actually popping his Cruiser.

After the FC’s and scouts had had a bit of a discussion on where to go next, they decided that the Russian fleet was too big for us and to head back up to Ikoskio and see what was going on there. So we reformed on the Unna gate and made our way back up the pipe, having a quick chat with the Onyx pilot again as we passed. I must watch out for him if he is going to be in that system for a while, could make for some fun times. We held on the Ikoskio - Asakai gate as we were getting intel of a large fleet in the high sec system we were heading for. They were holding on there Ikoskio gate and had a scout in a Cheetah and another in a Falcon buzzing around. Both the Cheetah and the Falcon got eyes on us as they jumped through scouting the surrounding gates, so they knew our forces just as well as we knew theres.

We had a Falcon, Arazu, 6 x Hurricanes 2 x Drakes, Harbinger, Brutix and a Phobos in our fleet. They on the other hand had 2 x Falcon, Rook, 3 x Myrmidon, 2 x Harbinger, 2 x Drake 2 x Hurricane. We idled around for a while, deciding on whether to engage a fleet that had slightly more ECM support but pretty equal numbers. The major advantage over us that they had would be the gate guns. We are all red outlaws so they can engage us without sentry aggression, however when we engage them we would have to take sentry fire as well.

In the end we jumped into system and warped to our safe spot just off the gate. As we got there the scout advised that they had jumped into system with us and were on the gate. The FC called the warp order and the fight was on.

Rook was called primary and he went pop, our Falcon pilot was doing his best to keep the enemy Falcons jammed but was having issues, the enemy Falcon pilots were good. The DPS fleet primaried a Hurricane and he went down next. The enemy fleet were organized and were calling primaries really well. My Brutix was the first ship to go down. They had 3 Myrmidons, and being able to engage without sentry aggression meant their drones could come into play too. The next ship primaried was a Harbinger, and he went pop as well, though by this point a number of our fleet was lost. A Drake was primaried next but it was decided that retreat was needed and the remainder of the fleet warped to safety, with the aid of our Falcon Pilot, before they could finish the kill.

All in all we lost A Harbinger, Phobos, Brutix and five Hurricanes, for 3 of their ships. Well done Dust to Dust alliance.

The night didn’t end there. Our IRISH CEO was a bit late to the party and was a few jumps out in his Armageddon BS but as the fleet was lost he turned around to go back to home base, where we were to reship and go back for another go at that fleet. This time with Battleships and one of my alts, Gateway1, flying a Kessie of DOOM!

On the way back our CEO ran into a little problem of his own, 2 Drakes and 2 Harbingers in our home system. They popped his Armageddon and he warped back to station and reshipped himself.

Once we all had the ships ready and the fleet had reformed we made haste back up to Ikoskio to find a few of their fleet still in Ikoskio and the rest back in the High Sec system, still hugging the gate. We arrived on gate and engaged, but alas I was too quick with the Cyno and they jumped out just as our Carrier jumped in!

Bugger.

We waited for the Carrier to warp out to a deep safe and then warped the fleet in to stand guard around it, while my poor little Kessie was left defenceless on the gate! Luckily the only things that came past was a neutral Hurricane (my cyno alt is neutral) and a couple of shuttles.

On the way back our CEO ran into a little problem of his own, 2 Drakes and 2 Harbingers in our home system. They popped his Armageddon and he warped back to station and reshipped himself.

Gilg was going to do the Cyno for the Carrier in Ikoskio, but Gateway1 had finally cycled through her countdown and made all haste back to base to light it so Gilg undocked his own Archon carrier, to escort our other carrier, a Chimera, home.

So a tale of losses and premature ecynolation but a good fight was had, some good laughs were had and, even though we came of worse in the fight! We loved every second of it.

In other news, Hannibal is now at his level 3 mission hub in Caldari space and will be trying out his new Drake tonight.

Mail Lite has ordered his next Brutix from our friendly white rabbits, I’m pretty sure I am owed a discount for providing some ore a few weeks ago? *Cough*

Mail Lite also had a Drake delivered, it was meant for Hannibal but he got his from another source so now it's Mail's new toy! A Caracal and Merlin + fittings and fittings for the Drake are on order and should be delivered tomorrow.

I also got recognized in our home system by a reader! First time! I’M FAMOUS! So a shout out to Nivea (I think that’s how it was spelt anyway…) who reads this blog when bored at work, just like I write it when bored at work!

I also have a small computer problem. I was trying to take screen shots yesterday but every time I pressed ‘Prt Scrn’ it took a picture of my desktop instead of the EvE client that I was looking at.

Anyone help me with this issue? Comments below please!

Best day to be a pirate!

One of the best days in my low sec pirate career yesterday, it had it all, ransoms, kills, mad chases across low-sec and missed opportunities.

It was Sunday, we were idly camping our home systems high sec entrance when our scout in one of the adjoining low-sec systems spoke up on vent. A Raven was on his scanner and looked to be coming to the gate, so we aligned and warped to the gate, then came the call, ‘he’s on gate, and he’s jumped!’

Our HIC did its job and locked the Battleship down for us, while the rest of the fleet started pounding on the BS. The Raven went down quickly and we even managed to snag his pod.

One of the guys checked the loot and a cry went up over vent ‘RAVEN BLUEPRINT and loads of T2 stuff!’ We had a little ‘We’re rich!’ and ‘wooohooo!’ in vent as we knew a good BPO of this is worth over a billion ISK but when we got back to station and sorted the loot out it was seen to be only a one run BPC worth about 80mil.

Ah well better luck next time.

I quickly went for something to eat and missed out on a Comorant kill. The fit was all T1 but the character was over three years old… hmm?

Anyway after a few more minutes of having no targets it was generally decided to take a trip up to one of the other systems we camp, and which is fast becoming one of our favourites. Our scouts preceded us and we headed up the pipe with no incidents.

Once in system we hung around and looked menacing for a while. Our scout stayed in the High Sec system and reported numbers and traffic to us. Most of it was shuttles. Then we got the call that a Helios was jumping through. We have managed to catch one before so our HIC pilot thought he would give it a go.

The Helios pilot was quick and managed to cloak and warp before we could get him locked so everyone started to align back to the safe spot. I lagged slightly and was glad I did, gate activation. Our scout hadn’t given any reports so I cancelled my warp and waited. Dominix Battleship, I targeted and pointed and requested back up from my fleet. I engaged my weapons. He had me locked but not engaged and then the rest of the fleet landed.

I have never seen a BS move as quick as that Domi did. He burnt back to the gate and, as we got him into low structure, managed to jump back into high sec space. I would love to see the fit on that ship. How did he make it so damn quick??

Next we got a call from our scout in one of the adjoining systems that a Mammoth Hauler was on scan. We aligned and waited for the call. ‘Warp to gate, Mammoth jumped’. We all landed on the gate in time to see the Mammoth cloak. We had a quick chat in vent and came to the correct conclusion that he couldn’t warp while cloaked so the fleet started orbiting the gate at speed and at different radials. After about 5 minutes of this we finally uncloaked the hauler and insta popped him.

We had just got back to our warp in point when our High Sec scout shouted in disbelief that a Hulk was on the gate. We warped in and waited and then a gate activation. He had jumped. Our FC ordered points, webs and scrams on the ship, no damage. I was then asked to conduct a ransom.

Once the Hulk had been caught and wasn’t going anywhere fast I opened a private conversation. Unfortunatly I forgot to copy the chat!

I asked for 100 million ISK and he could leave. He didn’t have the cash but asked if we would take a Maelstrom Minmitar BS in payment. I said that if he would contract it now, while still locked down then yes I would. My contracts flashed a moment later and I was now in possession of a fully fitted Maelstrom (Fail fit but w/e). I ordered all points and webs to be removed and the ‘customer’ to jump back to high sec space. We waited till he had jumped before leaving the gate.

A few minutes later we got another call from our scout on one of the other gates. A Myrmidon and Drake were approaching the gate. We aligned and warped to the gate. The Drake had jumped but the Gallente BC had held. We melted the Drake and his pod but we had to let the Myrm leave as everyone had aggressed and couldn’t jump after him.

We then got word of a Sleipnir on a gate one system over and decided to try and catch it as it jumped. We warped to the gate, jumped and started warping to the gate where the Sleipnir had been spotted. He had already jumped and we decided to follow again. On the next gate he had held for slightly too long and we managed to jump with him and aggress on the other side. Man, those bastards are fast! He happily sped out of our range and warped out.

We followed him for another 4 gates with the same issues, when we did get to aggress he sped out of range and was away, after one jump we hovered for a moment and managed to catch a Ishtar HAC which unwisely decided to follow us. Pop. In the end we chased the Sleipnir all the way back to our home system and decided to leave him and take a half hour break.

Upon resuming our fleet took another quick roam up the same pipe we had just chased the Sleipnir down. Our scout was trying to scan a T3 cruiser down but with no luck. We decided to head back home and try our luck in another system. On heading back down the pipe we ran into a Harbinger. He melted.

Then as we got close to our home system our scout had found something interesting. A Mrymidon ratting in the top belt of our home system, bait, without a question. However feeling good about our day of kills we decided to spring the trap. We warped in pointed and melted the Myrm to find a Thorax warp in, he was popped and podded just as a Sleipnir warped in. The same Sleipnir we had chased earlier. However this time we were ready for him. A couple of the fleet, noticing our issue with speed had changed their ships for fast, warp scram ships just for this sort of engagement. And thank god for them! He was popped and I will never laugh at a shield tanked Hurricane again!

We then got info on a Harbinger on a gate in another one of our connecting systems. He melted. As did the Myrmidon on the other side of the same gate, he was to late to help his friend but got popped and podded for his trouble! We then went back to our home system yet again.

To be met with information about a Moa, who we had scanned down missioning in our system. We warped in for point but all of us forgot that MWD’s don’t work in missions! He managed to escape but warped to the high sec gate at 10km! We warped at 0 and managed to web, scram and blow his little cruiser to bits. We also caught his pod but we made him sing a nursery rhyme in local chat, and he was allowed to go. He was only 16 days old.

However the night wasn’t over. In a neighbouring system another scout had been playing peak-a-boo with a Typhoon and Vexor, who were running through the belts. We sent in our fast point Phobos to get a point on the Typhoon. One he had the point the fleet jumped and warped. The fast tackle had missed his point on the Vexor but we still had the Battleship. We pounded him into space dust and we even managed to snag his pod with points and webs. I opened a window for Ransom and the pilot was more than happy to pay as he had implants. Just as we came to a price the Vexor warped back in and we pointed and popped him and his pod. Unfortunatly a few of the more senior members of the Academy forgot to change targets to the Vexor and podded the Typhoon pilot! Gah, so much for the ransom!

That was it for Mail Lite, I docked up and had a bit of a conflab with some of the Directors and the CEO about some issues and said Goodnight and logged.

In other news Mail Lite and Hannibal Vexor have both been banned from the public channel of Bright Star Corporation, I would just like to apologise if I caused any offence and that I understand your decision.

Hannibal has just bought and fitted out a Drake for Level 3 missions. I will now be keeping my Harbinger fitted for PVP just in case one of the people I can flip gets a bit antsy. I will also be doing some more Ninja Salvaging shortly though I am missing being close to the main body of TGA so may move my base of operations back out to Caldari space soon.

Hannibals’ Drake has also sparked an interest in missile boats for PVP. Mail is going to be trained for small T2 missiles and T2 assault missiles and give the Merlin and Caracal a bit of a try before deciding whether to get a Drake and/or Hawk.

Wormholes and Wabbits!

Hi all,

As you can see from the above I am very bored at work! I posted this on my alliance forums and it got a good reaction so I thought I would share it with the rest of you.

I have only one thing to report and it relates to a operation that members of The White Rabbits and The Black Rabbits embarked on about a month ago. Wormholes.

As a bit of a trial the alliance CEO decided to get a number of pilots into a Class 3 wormhole to see if we could a) survive and b) make some Iskies. We made preperations and awaited a wormhole to open up in a nearby system.

At the operation kick off a fleet of TBR and TBRA who were not ivolved in the op gathered to escort the mining and transport ships we were taking with us to the newly found WH. Once through we set up a pos and started scanning. We had 2 Legions, a Proteus, a Tengu, a Domi and a Myrm as our plexing and protection fleet. The miner fleet consisted of 2 Hulks, a number of Retrievers and of course the normal Orca. We also had a number of general ships for anyones use, salvagers and scanning ships.

I also have some really good pictures of the mining fleet in action however I seem to be having computer issues so will update from home tonight.

The reason I am talking about this now is because we have finaly started selling of the loot, salvage and minerals from this operation and I thought that you would be interested in knowing the details.

There were seven members of TBR and TWR involved directly in this two week operation. However we had more than that in actual 'characters' online due to alts and having dual monitors!

At this moment only the loot and salvage has been sold and already the total is up above the 2 billion mark. This is before the minerals from the mining team has even been touched!

As this was only a trial, we learnt alot from it and we will be taking that knowledge and going on in the future to do more of these types of operations. Hopefully it will include larger wormholes, more ships, more people and MORE ISK!

I would quickly like to shout out to the members of the EvE Blogging community who write about their experiences in wormhole space in EvE. It gave me a good background to work from.

The Guristas Associates are recruiting! WOW!

The Black Rabbits our the main backbone of The Guristas Alliance. They are made up of skilled and battle hardened PVP players. They are also a bloody good laugh on vent and have a willingness to help and train members of The Black Rabbits Academy.

20 mil PVP skillpoints
Must be able to fly a T2 Fitted Battle Cruiser.
RP experience is an advantage
Mature player
18+ preferred
Self-sufficient
Active player
Voice Communication software MUST be used.
Willingness to go to -10 sec
Willingness to stay IN CHARACTER in local, and during ransoms

The Black Rabbits Academy do not base acceptance to the organisation on skillpoints. We are a teaching corporation and as such believe the willingness and enthusiasm of a person should be the major points on which a new recruit should be judged.

Mature players only (18+ Prefered)
You must submit your LIMITED API to a Director for review.

Both of these corporations are entirely PVP based and if you join you will be expected to drop to -10.00 sec status. The ramifications of this include loss of access to 0.5 space and above and you can be engaged on gates and stations without the sentry guns interferring. If this does not seem your sort of thing please read on!

The White Rabbits are the logistical part of The Guristas Associates and spend most of their time in Empire. Mining, Plexes, Mission Running and the occasional wormhole op aided by their piratical brethern. They also manufacture ships, rigs and modules to help keep the 'pew pew' going.

The recuirements for TWR ar as follows:

Mature player (18+ Prefered)

As you can see the requirements are pretty mininimal with no skillpoint limit. We take everyone!

To join one of these corporations you should go to our website and register on the forums. In the recruitment forums are options for each of the above. Once there, complete the application form and join 'Guristas Recruitment' ingame channel (For TBR & TBRA) or The White Rabbits (For TWR) and one of the directors or recruitment managers will conduct a short interview for you.

I joined TBRA 5 months ago and haven't looked back. They are a great bunch of guys and I have made alot of friends there and met alot of competent pilots. TBR and TBRA fly together regularly and TWR are very friendly, welcoming and eager to help.

GoonSwarm - Point and laugh at will!

I guess I am just jumping on the bandwagon here; I have never had any dealings with GoonSwarm other then popping a few of their ships when they ventured into Low Sec space.

However I am looking forward to reading the interesting blog posts that will undoubtedly come from this and to getting home and reading up on the EvE-O forums. (Not accessible from work, evil net police!)

I’m not going to give any reasons to what has happened to GoonSwarm as a number of other blog writers have done it quite nicely.

In other news, while the Rabbits were watching a Low Sec/High Sec gate in one of our surrounding systems last night, a fleet of anti-pirates decided to try and engage us.

They had us outnumbered in ships and had both ECM and Logistical support. Our excellent FC weighed up the options and decided not to engage and to quit the field. They had the tactical advantage over our own fleet. Due to this withdrawal an amount of one way smack talk ensued in the systems local channel.

My one and only response was our alliance motto ‘All for the good of money’

Blue but not red yet!

Just a quick one about a stupid thing I did a few days ago.

My alliance members and I were outside our home station and we were testing fits. I was messing around in a T1 fitted Rifter that I had sorted out for a new member of The Black Rabbits Academy.

As all of the people who were around were red -10.00 naughty people, as I am, I started peppering them with EMP from my T1 guns and playing around with my Neut. I was doing next to no damage as they were all in Heavy Interdictors, Battlecruisers and a Falcon. Then one of our alliance mates undocked his new Black Rabbit alt in an Arazu. I burned towards him to do the same as I was doing to the others, locked him and activated my Neut.

Pop.

The alt that had been undocked, Florian, was a member of The Black Rabbits but hadn’t yet earned her red status. The sentry guns insta popped my little Rifter and much laughter and taunting ensued.

Whoops…

My Brutix Theories

Ok so the ship most associated with me by my alliance is the Brutix Gallente Battlecruiser. I love my Brutix, I have lost a few (Seven of them to be exact) over the last 5 months with The Guristas Associates and I will probably lose a lot more over the next year.

However one thing drives me to distraction and my alliance all know my feelings on this issue, Railguns VS Blasters on a Brutix.

Now I’m guessing your all saying right now that this post will be about the advantages of Blasters on a Brutix rather than Rails, however you’re WRONG!

I want to sing the praises of the Railgun fit Brutix and why, up until recently, I fitted them to my ship.

As you may or may not know, TGA takes great pleasure in closing down our home system against any incoming ships or fleets. This means engaging on stargates is the norm. We normally have between 3 – 15 Battlecruisers, Heavy Interdictors and Battleships on a normal gate camp.

Now in a Blaster fit Brutix this means landing on a the gate from your warp in spot, waiting for the target or targets to appear, activating your Microwarpdrive to burn into range, then, just before you get there the boys with long range weapons (Drakes) or faster MWD ships (Hurricanes) destroy your target. Yes I will be on the killmail as I had a Warp Disruptor, but I won’t have added any DPS to the target as I wasn't in my 2000m optimal.

However, bring in the railgun fit Brutix, Optimal Range? 18km!
And another great thing? No need for a microwarpdrive as you don’t need to burn like fuck to get in range!
The bonus to not having a microwarpdrive? You don’t need to spend any of your capacitor on it, meaning the T2 medium armor repairer can run longer and you will be on the field longer!

Now I hear you cry, what about DPS? Surely you’re taking a HUGE blow on DPS! Well actually it’s not as big as you may think. Someone using T1 Medium Electron Blasters will only be doing between 10 and 30 more DPS over your Railgun fit Brutix and you can start your DPS a lot sooner thanks to not having to worry about the range issue.

Now the above is really for gate camp scenarios only, in a fleet on fleet battle I would ALWAYS go for blasters, just for that extra DPS. There are more targets on the field and it would be a lot easier to get in range when fighting a fleet.

However I know that as soon as I have finished my training for T2 Medium Blasters (about 2 weeks left) and I fit Medium Ion Blaster II’s to my Brutix with both Caldari Anti Matter charges and Null in my cargo hold, I will never go back to Rails.

The reason?

Null = Range and for Gatecamps, I will always use Null.
